Rating: Summary: Exactly studies guide, a good one. Review: Don't suppose to lean everything from this book, but it does contain a lot of important information about exam. I used to be using Flash heavily but I didn't pass the exam last year. This time this book helped, I got a very high score. What I did is go through every exam topics under this guide, assume and study more questions alike.
Rating: Summary: Yikes. Review: Hi all, M Sunil a form INDIA seeing the previous reviews i was under impression that this was a blind date. the following were the + and - points + point: This book gives very much information how the exam is conducted sample questions give a great moral support. As the Certificaton exam is pretty expencive here. it can be very good for begiuners too. If u r in flash designing form more than an yerr i tink this book is enough (it will be the practical experiance which will help u the most) - point: The book is too thin for the cost. But its also correct that "the matter matters the most". The courier charges from US to IND were more than the book cost. It does not give additional costing info. abt timings and cost excemption for non-US people.
Rating: Summary: Pass the test, but not on this book alone Review: I found Christopher Hayes book of good use as a general guide, but it is not by any mean all inclusive. It touched on almost everything, but a bit too lightly in some areas. Definately bundle this book with FlashMX Bible and possibly Collin Mook's Actionscript for FlashMX/The definitive guide. The online test is a good resource as well as the test discount. If you really want to pass, then I do think this book is a help. Be prepared to use along side other books as well though.
Rating: Summary: buy it Review: i just passed the test. well, as mentioned in other reviews, you need more than this book. and yes, the book is too thin. however, this book will give you a taste of the questions for the exam, the overall difficulties of the review questions is somewhat similar to the ones in the exam. afterall, its free if u are planning to take the exam coz it gives you 15% off the exam fee. so why not buying it??
Rating: Summary: Good but you still need a bit more... Review: I passed the certification, but the information on this book was not enough. I used it as a reference along with the online help and the test outline from the Macromedia site. If you you don't know what all of the titles of all of the items on that outline are, then don't waste your money taking the test. The book is good, but it would have been better to cover a bit more. I would say it covered around 50% of the test, unfortually you need to get at least 70% to pass.
Rating: Summary: Boo! Hiss! To the Naysayers . . . I recommend this book Review: If they were misleading in their marketing of the book, then shame on Peachpit Press and Macromedia Press. This book does, however, deliver on what it promises in the Introduction. Coupled with Flash MX Unleashed by Matthew Pizzi, David Vogeleer, Todd Coulson, et al., I was able to pass the test. Along with the coupon, it is worth its money in my humble opinion. In fact, I went ahead and bought the Developer Study Guide from my experience with this book.
Rating: Summary: A dispensable book for a pointless certification Review: The 'Designer' certification was apparently developed by Macromedia for people who weren't smart enough for the Developer certification. Anyone who's worked with Flash MX for more than a few months will find this book a breeze, almost infantile. Alas, it does not contain much of the material that appears on the actual exam. Anyone seeking the Designer certification would do better to train for the Developer test instead. My bad review does not reflect on the writing or design of the book, both of which are exemplary.
Rating: Summary: Yikes. Review: This book is full of errors. The "accompanying" web site to which book corrections or errata is published is no longer active. What a fascinating purchase. There is nothing anyone can do with this book, except perhaps to level a wobbly table.
Rating: Summary: wait Review: wait for the Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Certified Designer Study Guide by James English, it will be out in Nov.
The exam has 4 domains; Planning, Visual Design, Experience Design, and Optimization, Pub, Workflow. Learn these 4 areas
by using the program, reading the manual, and refer to the Macromedia web site.
Rating: Summary: 15 % Discount on Test Review: We all pretty much agree that the book is rather thin and covers topics in a very minimal and thin way, but after all, we were going to get our free 15 % off on the test. I went to vue.com, after buying the book, signed up for the exam and just when i put in the voucher code a nice message came up: " This promotion is VALID TIL 31 / 2003". Great job! I don't recomed this book simply cause you can buy something better, covering all topics extensivly and in details. PLUS THE DISCOUNT ON THE TEST IS NO LONGER VALID!
