Rating: Summary: Nice piece of work Review: Author did an excellent job of condensing thousands of pages of RFC's into a concise study/reference tool. The test questions alone are worth the price of the book. The OSPF and IS-IS chapters were standouts while the BGP chapters might have been a bit beefier. The best thing out there right now for the money.
Rating: Summary: All I Needed Review: Bought it. Read it. Outlined it. Memorized the Questions. Passed the Test. $30 bucks and I'm 1/4 of the way to CCNP. 'Nuff said. Peace.
Rating: Summary: Why bother reading the book when you know it all. Review: I am amazed at some reviews that appear on these pages. A previous reviewer claims to have spotted numerous and repeated errors in this book. If he knew that much before he read it why was he/she bothering? Plainly he had the measure of the exam already? Of course the review is virtually once again anonymous, I wonder why? The simple fact is that the claimed errors do not exist in such quantity although like in any technical book I have read there are some. I can only conclude that once again by awarding one star and a few pithy remarks there is a clear effort to dump on a good book for reasons other than reality. Don't be had, you can't do better at the price. Five stars.

Rating: Summary: riddled with errors Review: I just about lost my mind trying to distinguish between fact and fiction while reading this book. It's quite obvious that CramSession was trying to beat the competitions' publishing timeline, and as a result it is riddled with errors. When I could identify frequent mistakes (we're talking 2-3 per page) in the sections about topics I already knew, how can I trust the information on the topics I'm trying to learn? I had to verify information in other reference books because I could not trust the validity of this book. As if that weren't enough, the book had virtually no information on a topic that was the subject of an entire lab question on the exam. And I have read many, many books that were more clear and easier to understand. If you are stuck on a desert island and have no other options, this book WILL help you pass the exam. But if you have any alternatives, it's worth the price to be able to trust the information that you are spending valuable hours memorizing.
Rating: Summary: In a rush to publish.... Review: I was a little surprised by the number of errors in this book. It seems like the publisher was in a rush to get this book out that they didn't spend enough time copy editing and proof reading the book or the accompanying CD with sample questions. "Okay, which is it? EIGRP will multiple the IGRP metric by 256 to get the redistributed metric? OR IGRP will multiple the EIGRP metric by 256 to get the redistributed metric?" There were also errors in the tables covering OSPF areas. Even though the previous text had the right information. On the back of the book listing things you will be able to do after reading this book included "Developing a web-based application?" "Enhance the security of .NET applications" or something like that. HUH?? This isn't a book about MS .NET. I'm not impressed and I thought it was a waste of money. Even if Cisco Press books are more expensive than 3rd party I would recommend going with Cisco Press in order to ensure that you are getting correct information.
Rating: Summary: Not your only study resource! Review: I would not recommend using this book as your only study resource for the BSCI exam. It does not cover the areas deep enough. I used the Exam Cram series 3 years ago to obtain my CCNP, and the books were solid. After reading this book to update my Cert, I was very disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Good to see Cram Session back! Review: It's been awhile since I've seen new Cram Session books on the shelf, and it definitely is a welcome sight. Not only is this BSCI book excellent for certification, but it makes a heck of a "pocket reference." There are a few errors, but any knowledgeable person can figure out what the author intended for you to see. Good book to add to the collection!

Rating: Summary: Very well put together. Review: So now you have to update you Cisco Certification, or you have to start you certifcation and you have been working and studying for several weeks and now you need to find a quick guide to fisnih the study process. The 642-801 BSCI exam is now updated and ready to take and this EC2 book gives you a good look into the finer exam points. Understand that no one book is the be-all end-all definitive guide and this book is the higlights of the exam. While the book does cover the exam objectives, there is a neew to further your study. This book has a whole host of tips and tricks as well as several hundread practice quesitons and it makes a great add-on reference manual. One thing that has alsways imnpressed me about EC2 book is that right in the front cover is the Quick Reference Cram Sheet and this book is no exception to that rule. The book covers topics like RIP2, Eigrp, OSPF, BGP and IS-IS. Also included is a cd-rom with the highly successful Prep Logic test software. The cd has one exam and if you need or want more then you have to go to Preplogic's website. The diagrams and pictures are helpful tools and overall this is a fine tool for those looking to enhance their skillset.
