Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS NOW OBSOLETE Review: Buyer beware. This book, published January 2003, does not cover Application Intelligence or SmartDefense, two subjects included on the new Checkpoint 156-210 exam as of July 2003.
Rating: Summary: CCSA NG: Check Point Certified Security Administrator Study Review: Excellent Book! If you're taking the Checkpoint CCSA vNG FP3 exam (...the current CCSA exam), this is the book you need to get. The book is very well written, and it does cover the material a person need's to pass the CCSA exam. Even if you're not planning to take the CCSA exam, this is a GREAT book to have if you work with Checkpoint NG VPN-1/Firewall-1 FP3!
Rating: Summary: First book I reviewed on Amazon.com Review: I am glad to say that I passed CCSA NG yesterday morning with a score of 81%. I made a promise to myself that once this exam is behind me, I am writing this review. This is an excellent book! Yes, it does have some extra material but it is a very good read, easy to understand and covers everything that is required for the exam. I would highly recommend this book and... practice questions. ... Good Luck!
Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY IF YOU PLAN TO GET CERTIFIED! Review: I just wasted $150 on the exam. The test contains many questions about Application Intelligence and SmartDefense. Two topics that not covered in this book. I should have read these reviews before buying.
Rating: Summary: Some good info Review: I've been working with Checkpoint Firewall-1 for 5 years now, so I picked up this book as a review when I was told to get my CCSA and CCSE by my employer. I have not taken the exam yet, so I don't know how well it prepares one for the exam, but I do know that I consider my knowledge of FW-1 to be deeper than most, yet I still learned some new tricks from this book. That was the high point. I thought the information was arranged in a confusing manner and that the questions at the end of the chapter were very poorly worded and caused a lot of confusion. Also, get used to the phrase "it's important to understand". It is used in practically every paragraph. After awhile, it began to bug me. Is this sentance important to understand, while the rest of the reading isn't? If I pay $40 for a book, it better all be important for me to understand. It's a stupid cliche, and it's redundancy got very tedious.
Rating: Summary: No cover for Feature Pack4 Review: Just failed the exam due to this book. As per other reviews the book does not cover Application Inteligence or Smart Defense which have been added to the new Checkpoint CCSA exam. The other topics are covered very well but despite scoring over 80% on the other topics my 8% I scraped on Smart Defense was not enough to get me a pass. If they bring out a book that covers the 156-210.4 exam I would highly recommend it (unless Checkpoint have brought out feature pack 5!!).
Rating: Summary: Great book, not-so-great CDROM Review: Overall this book was similiar to several other Syngres study guides that I have used in the past to pass various Cisco exams. At over 600 pages, the author really covers a lot of the finer details of Checkpoint and does so in a not-so-dry format that keeps you interested along the way. The world of Checkpoint can certainly be frustrating at times, and the author does a particuliarly good job of pointing out common pitfalls in configurations. On the down side, more time should have been spent preparing the tests on the CDROM, as there are numerous glaring errors. For instance, a lot of questions have the same correct multiple choice answer listed more then once. So no matter what, you're going to get it wrong. Overall, it was pretty-good book and I'm glad I purchased it. It is worth mentioning that I have had NO NG experience and have only been using 4.1 for six months. With nothing other then this book to study by, I just passed my CCSA with an 84 (69 is passing). Pretty good book, ok CDROM, 4 stars.

Rating: Summary: Good book but does not cover NEW exam 156-210.4 Review: The book is good but is only for the 156-210 exam which you can not do anymore. The new CCSA exam is 156-210.4 which you will probably fail if you use this book. I just lost £100 because of this. The Checkpoint web site is not very good at explaining the difference in the new exam and Sybex do not know about 156-210.4 yet. Where can I get a study quide for 156-210.4 ?
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book and CD Review: This is the best book you can have in order to understand Checkpoint and get approved on your test. If you have some Checkpoint experience read the book, do the CD tests and get your certification.
