Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent prep
Review: In my opinion this book is a lot like the Mike Meyers "A+ Passport", it doesn't have a lot of fluff and gets right to what you need to know for the exams. I would suggest reading this one along with the Passport, and also supplement it with the Mike Meyers "All in One". Reading through this combo will give you every bit of info you need for the exams and make you feel confident you didn't miss anything.

Summary: Awesome book for the exams and the money
Review: My teacher suggested that I get this book before taking the A+ tests. He was right-on. I passed both tests and got my A+ certificate! Not bad reading for an inexpensive book either. I suggest you take an A+ technical class and use this book to help you prepare for the tests.

Summary: Can't Trust it's Accuracy.
Review: The editor and proofreader of this book should be put to shame and shunned from the publishing community forever! I was appalled by the outright multitude of grammatical errors in this book. Is it striped, stripped, stripe, or strip? Is it topology or typology? This book can't seem to make up its mind. Here are some other examples of the literally dozens of faulty sentences you will find 'you have just experienced Windows NT stop error...' 'you replace a your 33.6Kbps modem with...' or '...sound card is has been disabled'. The last pebble on the mountain of solecisms for me was when they spelt the word 'straight' as 'strait'.

All this might seem of little consequence to you but just think, with all these inaccuracies, how much of the technical information may be inaccurate? Unfortunately I couldn't give you that answer since I'm obviously just learning the stuff.

In the end I get a very strong sense that this book was rushed out in some last minute effort. I don't trust it.

Summary: Great Study Guide!
Review: This book is a good no-nonsense study guide. The A+ exam is not that difficult with the right prep materials. I would use this book with another study source. testking.com has practice tests that are right on with their information. Be aware that this book has a few errors. Always cross-reference questionable info with another source - like microsoft.com.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: This book is a real help, to those who want to pass the A+ Adaptive Exam. It goes straight to the point and gives you 99% if not 100% of the information you need.

If you are looking for detailed information or willing to learn about A+ then go for the Micheal Meyers book it's and excellent book.

If you only want to pass the exam, then this is the right book!

Summary: Terrific resource
Review: This book is definitely a "cut through the chase" kind of A+ prep book. As several other reviewers pointed out, you'll certainly become certified upon completion of this book. However, if you don't have any experience with PC Hardware and Operating Systems, I recommend Mike Myers A+ Passport to learn the concepts from a different perspective. I couldn't believe how accurate the contents really were. It receives four stars because of the numerous errors in the quiz software. If you know your stuff, then the errors aren't a problem other than your electronic ending score isn't accurate but, for Newbies to the A+ endeavor, it could confuse one...

Summary: Awesome Source for a Ridiculously Easy Exam
Review: This book is the perfect study source for someone with experience. I personally have over 5 years of I.T. experience, so I read this book in a week and passed both exams in less than 20 minutes. I think it's good that CompTIA is going back to the linear format because 30 questions (20 if your getting all the answers right) is just not enough to properly gauge a candidate's overall knowledge. I'm not complaining, I'm just stating a fact that there might be a lot of A+ certified techs out there that really don't know squat about PC's. But hey, I passed and now I'm A+ certified as a result. Now I can make $8.00 per hour at CompUSA or Best Buy! Willie - CCNA, Network+, A+

Summary: Excellent base of study
Review: This book provides an excellent core of knowledge for the Adaptive Exams. I just passed both exams on first try primarily from studying this book and to a lesser extent the giant Sybex A+ Complete text. A+ Adaptive Exams is only 352 pages and has more relevant exam information than the Sybex book which is almost 900. If you are new to IT a more complete book is possibly necessary however.

Summary: Great operating system guide!
Review: This book was great for helping me to prepare for and finally pass the A+ operating system exam. I failed this exam using a different exam cram book about three months ago. This book definitely did the job for me...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Time to be A+ Certified
Review: This book will enable you to be A+ Certified. It targets the material that will be on the exam, no fluff! (Like others) It provides exam tips, summary and practice exams for you to pass the test with NO Problem. I read over the strong points covered in this book and I liked the retention approach that will prepare you for the exam. No doubt this is 'one of a kind' study guide!
