Summary: Great book and better chapter questions
Review: I have several years experience with Cisco routers and have taken the ICRC class. I bought this book as a supplement and found it very usefull, expecially the chapter questions.

Now, about the test. Cisco didnt try very hard on this one. This test is a absolute joke. A monkey with a crayon could pass this thing. I guess their trying to flood the market with "paper certs " like everyone else. Hopefully the ACRC exam will be a better people filter.

Good luck.

Summary: This book is great
Review: I am both CNE and MCSE, I have never worked with a cisco router before. I read this book and passed the first try. 78%, not impressive but I am happy and now look forward to the ACRC book

Summary: Great Book
Review: I have never touched a router, I don't even work in the field yet, and have maybe seen a router twice. But I was able to pass the CCNA test with a 78%. This test is not that hard at all. I am a MCSE so I understood a lot of the OSI and TCP/IP stuff already, but this book really lays it all out for you, clear and concise. It was really easy to read and the questions at the back of the book are very good. Not only was this book my primary source for studying for the exam it was my only source. I have to confess I barely touched the CD, I found it to be of minimal use, but the content in the book was excellent. Anyone who says anything differently about the book is either an idiot or related to some other author writting about the same topic. This is the definitive book for preparation for the CCNA exam.

Summary: ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!
Review: I have my MCSE and wanted the prestige of having the Cisco CCNA certification added to my resume. I have never touched a Cisco router in my life but was determined to pass the test... I DID! I scored 78% (passing is 68%) using this book! The book EXPLAINS EVERYTHING the way you need it. It doesn't assume you know everything. The biggest advantage is the massive amount of Cisco IOS displays that are printed in this book..it makes you feel like you are logged in to a router. That was the key! There are many Syntax questions on the real test and this book covers all of them..

It is worth it because it's a compilation of notes, reviews, braindumps, and best of all it has a forum where people discuss exam topics and areas they are having a hard time with. That helped me alot too!

The PROS: for under $100 you can have access to all the resources you need to learn and understand the material.

The CONS: NONE. True, the 222 questions on the CD are from the book - but unlike most study guides the book's questions are alot like the CCNA questions. It's like having the Transcender tests for CCNA. You can't go wrong with this one!

Good luck to all of you.

Summary: Great book, the CD-ROM is useless
Review: I used this book as my primary study guide. Now I can now officially boast that Cisco certifies that I know the ISO layers, IP and how to login to a router. Come on people, the exam is not that hard!

The book covered all the right topics, the preparation questions were right on.

I would have given this book a 5 star rating if it wasn't for my disappointment with the CD. The questions are the same as in the book, the demos are useless. In fact, questions on some of the exam objectives are not available in the CD unless you dish out additional bucks to the publisher. Thumbs down for that!

Now on to CCNP... I will consider Lammle's ACRC study guide but if it's the same deal with the CD contents, forget it!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good Exam Prep Book
Review: It appears that the writers of this book actually took the CCNA exam. The material followed the objectives of the exam and placed the extra ICRC info such as Appletalk in the Appendix. The book is not as detailed as the actual CourseWare, but gives you the neccessary knowledge to pass the exam.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent prep...when combined with hands-on
Review: Greetings from a newly-minted CCNA! To prep for the exam I used the ICRC CBT and this book (not to mention real-world Cisco experience and a VERY good understanding of TCP/IP).

The book is a pretty easy read as tech books go. I read it on the train on the way home every day for about two weeks, then did some intensive ICRC work and some last-minute question drilling to pass the exam on the first try.

If you read this book cover to cover and can answer all the review questions included (on the book, not the CD) you WILL pass this exam. But don't expect to pick up this book with no background in networking or IP and walk away with a cert. The Cisco certifications are still tough.

Again, cheers to Lammle for a great study guide!

Summary: Excellent reference to 'fill in' your knowledge gaps
Review: Excellent source to fill in the gaps in your knowledge of Cisco's IOS. Good reference for general internetworking, TCP/IP, IPX, and the OSI model. This book provides a excellent method to focus your valuable study time on the topics you need to thoroughly understand in order to pass the CCNA exam.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: YOU CAN PASS THE DREADED CCNA TEST WITH THIS BOOK!
Review: WELL WRITTEN, and NOT just another boring technical manual! If you are considering taking that difficult CCNA test, this book is for you.

If you are a CNE or an MCSE or both, you need this book in order to refine your skills and knowledge.

Great Book! Easy to Read! Easy to comprehend the concepts!

This book should be used by all network professionals as a reference for Cisco routers. I could not recommend this book to someone who is just learing Internet / Intranet networking.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I love the book and I'm on the west coast!
Review: As far as going so far as to say you love something, a book is a far fetch. But, in the sense of the technical accuracy, format, writing style, figures, router samples, I love how it is done. The review questions were as hard if not harder then the actual exam. For $35, you really can't go wrong.
