Rating: Summary: Mistakes & poor editing! Review: Many of the illustrations used to define & explain the concepts in this book are just plain wrong. It would appear that the editors did a poor job in detailing this book. I am quite suprised, though. I have always found that Todd Lammle & Mark Minasi have put out particularly high quality books, until now. I have even more of the same mistakes with its big brother CCNP. To add insult to injury, I tried contacting the writers of the book with questions & comments. I received no response. Try again, Guys!
Rating: Summary: A Solid Study Guide. Review: This is probably the best, well-rounded study guide available for the CCNA.The book assumes that you have access to a Cisco router, like the Cisco 250X models. The labs at the end of the chapters require access to a router. I would consider access to a Cisco router a must for using this book properly. Add this book and access to a Cisco router, and you should be all set.
Rating: Summary: Read this book - pass the test! Review: This book was right on the money. It was well written and covered exactly what you need to know to pass the test. What more can I say?
Rating: Summary: Thanks Todd!! Review: I passed the exam on the first try. The questions at the end of the chapters were right on target. Also, this book serves as a great desk reference. On the down side, the "exam prep" questions on the CD were exactly the same as the ones at the end of the chapters.
Rating: Summary: Excellent content, needs editing Review: The content is great. Everything you need to know to be a CCNA. There are quite a few errors, mostly typos. Recommend buying Self Tests from Self Test Software, very helpful.
Rating: Summary: Experience + CCNA Exam Notes + This Book = CCNA Review: This book is an excellent source for preparing for the CCNA test, although nothing beats experience. I used this book, Todd's CCNA Exam Notes, some web resources, oh yeah and my 16 years of experience. I passed the test. On to the next one. Good job Todd.
Rating: Summary: An Outstanding Piece of Resource Material!!! Review: This book--along with the CCNA Exam Notes--did the trick for me! I have read other material and they all lacked the no-nonsense approach the Mr. Lammel and company took on this book. Both, the Study Guide and the Exam Notes, are valued members of my library. Those two books should help anyone--with a basic understanding--pass the exam.
Rating: Summary: Just the information you need to pass CCNA Review: Drawing on my on-the-job training, and using this book to fill in the gaps (Appletalk, IPX) I was able to pass easily. Good reference too for the ins-and-outs of the OSI model (and you are certainly tested on them).
Rating: Summary: Great certification preparation ! Review: Overall the book prepares you well. One downside is that the CD included boasts a prep-test. The test on the CD is the same as the summary questions at the end of the chapters. In the end, it was still enough preparation. Oh.. by the way.. I had been through ICRC and ACRC a little more than a year ago. The book was orangized well and served as a great review. It definetly excludes what wont be on the test i.e. Appletalk configuration, but includes it in the appendix. Hence, this book will also server as a great desk reference.
Rating: Summary: Was a well organized book Review: I used lammle study guide with the notes book , which covers all the main points. I did not have any hands on experience with routers. I just picked up these books , studied them pretty hard for couple of weeks, then I took the CCNA and I passed!!!! Thank you Todd
