Summary: This One has it all !
Review: Todd does well in explaining the basic routing concepts and networking. The book is unbeatable as far as passing the exam goes. The guide alone is enough to see U through the test.Working through the questions at the end of each chapter is a must though.Book delivers all that it promises. Good work Todd.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A very complete guide to CCNA certification
Review: My only compaint about the book is that the answers to the questions following each chapter are printed immediately. The answers should be at the back of the book to make it more difficult.

Summary: Read this book and become a Cisco Certified CCNA!
Review: This book covers all you need to know to become Cisco CCNA certified.

Each chapter starts with the CCNA test objectives. The objectives are clearly stated, and the subsequent study material of each chapter is sufficiently detailed to meet the objectives.

At the end of each chapter are review questions and lab exercises to reinforce the material learned. However, the review questions are somewhat limited in number.

I think more comprehensive questions could be given at the end of each chapter or at least recorded on the CD ROM that accompanies the book. Additionally, the questions could include "fill in the blank" type questions, as well as multiple choice, for more complete comprehension.

Another shortcoming I found is that the example final exame questions contained on the CD ROM are the same as review questions given at the end of each chapter.

Finally, although IP addressing and subnetting is a somewhat complex topic, I think the chapter on IP addressing could be written more simply. Many tables are given in the chapter and are used for reference in determining a masks, subnets, and/or hosts. However, these tables will not be available when the CCNA test is taken.

In summary, though, this book will get you a CCNA certificate. Then, too, you will probably need hands-on practice with routers, as well.

Summary: If you want to pass the CCNA, buy this book!
Review: I used this book to study for my CCNA exam. I passed the first time with an 93%! That is one of the best scores I have heard of. This book is right on for the exam! I found very few small typos, and the writing style makes the material easy to digest. Recommended highly!!!

Summary: Absolutly the best CCNA book on the market!!!!
Review: If you want to ace the CCNA exam, then this is the book foryou! Full of great examples and router configurations, it makesstudying easy. Also, I found it unique that the authors used Network traces throughout the book to help explain what was happening between routers. Two thumbs way up!

Summary: A friendly warning ...
Review: the book is really great prep material for CCNA but ... the test itself is really simple. Don't get the wrong impression by reading the book and taking a test that: a. you know something about routing and Cisco - the book just barely scratches the surface of the subject; b. that you'll be able to make CCNP the same way. CCNP is ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY different and in my opinion is not possible to be mastered like the Microsoft tests.

Although I've reconsidered my opinion on the book (see the previous review) - it has no practical value - it's not going to help you to connect two routers in a real-world situation I'm not going to change my previous rating of 5 stars - it's excellent test-taker, and it's clearly stated on the cover page - "CCNA Study Guide". It doesn't read "practical guide on Cisco routers" or "how to make it work" and you shouldn't be surprised that after reading the book you will have the same level of useful knowledge as before (unless you've been tabula raza (blank sheet)).

Success on the exams!

Summary: Good book to complement Cisco's ICRC book
Review: I passed my CCNA with 88% - 68% was passing. Neither this book nor Cisco's ICRC book is enough to do well on the test. You need both books, and you certainly need hands-on Cisco router experience. For both books, make sure you use the errata provided by Cisco and Sybex at their websites. Their are major mistakes in both books that would definitely cause you problems on the tests.

Summary: Gotta have it!
Review: This is the best computer book I have ever read. I am taking my exam next week and I feel confident after reading this book. I have found very few typos, and the text is very easy to read and is NOT boring. Recommended-two thumbs way up!!

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: I come from a MCSE background. I bought this book knowing almost nothing about CISCO and 1 week later I finished the book and just scored an 81% on my CCNA exam!!! good job guys, i'll be buying the CCNP book next!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Book and easy reading.
Review: With minimal experience and this book I was able to get my CCNA. It's very easy reading and easily understood. I highly recommend it for those seriously going for certification.
