Rating: Summary: Absolutly the best book for the CCNA exam! Review: I passed the new CCNA exam yesterday, using only this book! I recommend this book highly. It covers all CCNA questions I had on the exam. If you want to know what you are going to see on the exam, then this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Good for basics, weak on advanced topics Review: The book does a good job on network basics, the OSI reference model and TCP/IP which is good if you haven't studied these topics before. However most people interested in as CCNA have. When it gets to specifics on Cisco configuration (OK) and more advanced topics like WAN Protocols (weak) it starts to get a little sketchy. The biggest dissappointment is that the "practice exams" are just the same review questions from the end of each chapter of the book put onto a CDROM. They are even organized by chapter with no testing simulation at all. I haven't tried the CCNA test yet but I'm pretty sure it will take a more advanced book than this for me to pass it.
Rating: Summary: Very well written book! Review: I bought two 2500 series routers, and this book. This was all I needed to pass the test. I had no router experience prior to this. With the help of this book and the easy to follow labs, I scored a 925. Great book. Thank you Todd!
Rating: Summary: Read this book...if you want to pass the test Review: Bought the book, read it twice...934/1000 the first time round. If you "own" the material in this book you will pass. Definitely the best "certification guide" I've encountered.
Rating: Summary: An excellent, solid test prep guide Review: I was REALLY glad to have this book when it came time to take my exam. By way of full disclosure, I should say I know Todd and he sent me a copy of the book when it was published. But I didn't want to review it until I actually had a chance to read it and use it. It really helped me pass the test on the first take. I read other reviews here that said the readers found areas on the test not covered in the book. I didn't find that to be true at all. In fact, as I was reading the material I wondered if the test would really get into some of the detail Todd explains. It did. Another reader/reviewer complains that the TCP/IP charts have errors. I've been teaching TCP/IP for several years and didn't see anything wrong. I agree with the majority of the reviews here. It's a solid book and I have already recommended it to my students and my fellow instructors.
Rating: Summary: Good Review.....but NOT end all and be all Review: I had some router experience before reading this book. Using this as the only source is NOT recommended. I passed on the first try, but it was hard. Use some other source of resource along with this one....good luck
Rating: Summary: This is a great book. I bought this and the Notes book. Review: I bought this book and the Sybex Notes book along with the Todd Lammle router simulator. Between those three items I aced my CCNA exam. I used no other reference, and the simulator gave me more then enough hands-on experience. I recommend this book, the Notes book and the simulator found on the website. Cheers mate!
Rating: Summary: A ten star book! You have to get this book! Review: If you are taking, or even thinking of taking the Cisco CCNA exam, this is a MUST-HAVE book. I also have the Sybex CCNA Exam Notes book, which is way better then the Exam Cram CCNA book. The Exam Cram is full of misinformation and errors and doesn't cover the exam. If you get the Sybex CCNA Study Guide and the Sybex CCNA Notes book, you are set up for sucess!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Concise, easy to read and riddled with errors. Review: A good introduction as long as the reader relies on the prose sections, and not the illustations or the study questions. Shows evidence of hasty and slipshod editing. My CCNA exam contained a large number of questions on topics not covered by this book.
Rating: Summary: Buy only at 40% discount... Review: This book is useful for people who are pursuing cisco certification and contains good information however there are other books at lower prices with the same information. I would buy only at 40% discount.
