Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good book for those with limited hands on experience
Review: If you have a good working knowledge of Cisco in general just buy the exam notes book. Otherwise this book is good with few mistakes.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: It got the job done!
Review: Passed CCNA test 953/1000 today. Took 30 days to absorb book and practice with routers. DO the questions in the book first, then the CD practice tests. Easy reading, few errors, and was on the mark for me.

Summary: Good preparation tool, but needs to be augmented...
Review: I took my CCNA test today and scored 953/1000. I had read this study guide yesterday and did the practice questions at the end of the chapters. There are some glaring errors in this book (be on alert in the WAN chapter), but it is a good study aid. The information presented in this guide is complete, but some of it just doesn't match up with Cisco's interpretation. One example of this is the first chapter on OSI -- I read it thoroughly and scored 100% on the test at the end of the chapter, but I was wholly confused on OSI-related questions on the exam. The terminology used to describe the data encapsulation method and session/transport layers is much different! I did very well on all of the other sections of the test, and I think the book helped a lot in those areas... for those studying for the exam, I recommand that you try to augment what is in this guide regarding OSI and WAN with other text (perhaps Cisco's ICRC guide). If you can read and understand this guide, you will probably pass the test, but you really should not use this as your only source.

Summary: Excellent review for CCNA. This book is a must!
Review: Passed CCNA with a score of 925. Other resources: Laura Chappell (CCNA) ExamCram Routing and Switching Two 2501 routers - do as much configuration as possible. To pass, do the following: 1. Read Chappell 2. Read Lammelle, do labs 3. ExamCram ExamCram is a good check list...If you can't explain the topic to someone else, you won't get it during the test. 4. Drill-down on harder topics in Lammelle book (better explanations than Chappell). Do configs on routers, especially access-lists, T1 & Frame-relay. 5. When you're bursting with info (i.e. you can configure a router from scratch and know all covered commands and responses) you're ready for the test. 6. Good luck!

Summary: Good for the ccna exam
Review: good for the ccna exam but if u plan to think, there are areas where the info is too little....take autoinstall for example. guess the objective isn't tons of info but the ccna exam.....good for people with little or no hands-on ....the cd that came along gave me no marks for a question that was correctly answered....tried to go to the web site of hercules training..never made it in a whole day...does it exist? a little nit picking now...sybex asks you to go to the microsoft site for the exam objectives in case they change...too many microsoft books i guess ! have fun.

Summary: A very well written Book
Review: I liked very much the way it explains all the chapters. I think it gets straight to the point and it's easy to understand. But be careful at the CDP point were it says that it's a broadcast, but it shows you a CDP frame and you can see the destination MAC address that it is a multicast. Any way, I like it very much. I also bought the CCIE prep.com book, it has a lot of very good question with complete user-friendly explanations. Both really help you with the CCNA exam.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good general info
Review: A good grounding in the types of questions that will be asked. But beware the format of the exam has changed - you need v good knowledge outside of the parameters of the book - ie get intimate with OSI, IPX etc.

Summary: Gotta have this book! You'll pass the CCNA with this book!
Review: If you want to know what is on the CCNA exam, then buy this book. It is a very well written book, and gets straight to the point. I also bought the CCNA Notes book by Sybex, which helped me cram the last two days before the test. Highly recommended!

Summary: One of a short list really good guides
Review: The CCNA Study guide in on my short list of three books that really helped me pass the CCNA test today. One of the others is the new book: Cisco, A Beginner's Guide by Tom Shaughnessy w/ Toby Velte and The CCNA Exam Certification Guide by by Wendell Odom. The first one, the beginners guide really tied the concepts together & helped me really learn while the second, like this book suplimented the slew of info you need to pass the test. Passed the exam with my little pile of books and I couldn't be happier. Todd - you da man!
