Summary: It's the only way to go if you're studying at home!
Review: This book, along with the Exam Notes, is the only way to go if you're studying for the CCNA at home and in your spare time at work. I also had the RouterSim program that Todd Lammle created. Buy it, use it, you'll see... I scored an 832 on the exam!

Summary: Next stop, CCNP!
Review: If you haven't heard by now, Todd Lammle is THE Networking Guru. Stick with his books for all your Cisco certification needs. I passed the CCNA this week with 897/1000, and I owe it all to Todd's CCNA Study Guide and his CCNA Exam Notes, also published by Sybex. I read through both books, and then spent a week just taking practice exams from Self Test Software. If you do the same, you won't fail. Who knows, you might even score 100%! Way to go Todd Lammle, and keep up the good work! Now, on to the CCNP!

Summary: Highly Recommended CCNA Exam Prep
Review: This is a great exam preparation book. While there are certain items in the book that I found confusing, the author did a great job overall. My Cisco experience is minimal, yet I felt very comfortable taking the exam after having studied this book. I scored 925/1000. Thank you Sybex for another great study guide!

One word of caution: There were several ISDN questions that appeared on my exam which weren't covered in the book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book covers all the CCNA exam questions
Review: I passed the CCNA exam by using this book and the exam notes from Sybex, this is all you need to pass the exam, of course you need some hands on experience, I used the RouterSim from Todd Lammle which provide a great source for practicing the labs included in the book. Do not forget to get the update on chapter 11 from Sybex web site .

Summary: This book has everything to pass the exam
Review: This book, the ccna exam notes and boston test got me a 90% with one week of study. I had some hands on with routers first but all the screen printouts are in this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Bravo - Job Well Done!
Review: Well Organized, Excellent Coverage of Exam Objectives, Consistent clear writing.

I passed the CCNA Exam with an 878 (755 Pass), after one week of study, using only this book, and I have never touched a Cisco router. I didn't even use the CD-ROM practice exams that accompanied it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: if you want to pass- buy this
Review: Quite simply this book is THE guide to the exam . Just watch out for the LAN switching area which isnt covered well

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent!
Review: This book was my primary source material in passing the CCNA. Keep in mind that no book is a substitute for hands on. I found the material very focused yet broad enough to give me the tools needed to get through many of the tough questions of the exam. The only complaint I can say I have with this book is with the end of chapter and cdrom questions. Get this book and get some hands on experience. You wont have a problem with the test.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best exam prep book out there.
Review: Although the ICRC book might do a better job of explaining router configuration, this book definitely does a great job of getting you ready for the CCNA exam. Lammle writes in a fashion that helps you retain the material without getting bored. Combine this with the ICRC book as a dynamite way to get ready for your exam. Check out MCSETutor.com if you're looking for a more detailed review.

Summary: A good study guide, but should not be your only reference
Review: In general, this book was easy to read and understand. I passed the exam by a wide margin and this was my main source of study material.

The examples that are provided are pretty good and the Q & A stuff at the end of the chapters is very helpful.

However, I found lots of typographical errors and some of the diagrams should have been documented better. Although it covers switching in general, it is weak on Cisco switching specifically. It also leaves out some information like an explanation of what NT1 and NT2 devices are. Make sure you go to the Sybex website and get the errata for the book. I still found things that I thought should have been included in the errata, but that will still help.

I wouldn't even bother with the CD-ROM that is included. The practice test that comes on it is very kludgy and had errors in it.

I already had lots of experience with Cisco routers, so take that into account when you choose a book.

Despite my critiques, I thought it was a pretty good book. I checked out the Cisco Press book and this book seemed more user friendly. I did pass the exam, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much!
