Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Cisco Networking Academy Student - 4th Semester
Review: I would highly recommend this book. Bought this book as a second reference to the Cisco Press book. It has been most helpful and fills in some gray areas. Word of advice: The exams in the academy are hard as crap too. Tests are designed by Engineers, not English majors. Don't expect an easy certification from Cisco. Good luck!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: BRAVO!
Review: This book has everything that you could ever ask for to pass the CCNA exam! I took the exam on march 20th and scored 944 after 1 week of studying this book and using a router. Having access to a router to perform the labs in his book is essential to get the IOS commands down.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very Infromative and Well Laid Out
Review: I am a student who just completed 4 semesters of CCNA training. That knowledge and this book helped me get CCNA certified at 20 years old! It covered every single topic that was covered in the online curriculum that comes directly from CISCO. It is a great review and covers anything you will see on the CCNA exam. Hands on router configuration is a must, though for complete understanding of the IOS commands. I highly recommend this book to supplement your CCNA studies.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good solid material.
Review: It was my the only study guide for my CCNA. It had all the material required. Scored 940. It *does* have errors, though. You must watch out for them. If you don't have any hands-on, you're likely to get at least confused with these.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Buy the book pass the test
Review: Its that simple. I bought the book and passed the test in the high 800s. This book is great for the CCNA and lays everything out for you. Not to mention the cd was a great tool.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: pretty accurate, definitely buy the companion exam notes too
Review: Think I passed the latest Cisco CCNA 410-507 exam beta,154 questions, 3hrs. Information from the two books were very accurate, lots of terms to remember. You have to buy both books to pass, the text alone would not suffice, .

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good, enough to pass the exam
Review: If you have studied the book thoroughly and done practice exams, you can get it easily.Of course, you should have some practical experience on Cisco router that would be definite advantages.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Its really good
Review: I used it and scored 950. It is written to the point and hence really makes concepts clear.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Top choice to prepare for CCNA
Review: this was my main study guide for the CCNA. The information in the book is very consize and To-the-Point regarding networking concepts and cisco router configuration. the set of questions/answers in the CD is definitely a good tool, I also used Boson.com questions for the CCNA which correlate with and complete some aspects of the book. with this combination you are all set for a big part of the CCNA. Now also hands-on classes will help you get a good understanding of router configurations but as far as books are concerned: THIS IS THE ONE!

Summary: Extremely Disappointed :-((
Review: Wish I could give a rating of negative stars!

I purchased sybex books before (the four-core MCSE requirements) and gave up the idea of studying from them because of the errors. Now when I bought Todd Lammle's CCNA book I had some reservations, but I thought that it is a different author. I regret now that I made a wrong decision. I think the errors are a combination of both authors contributions as well as publishers (may be publisher part is less).

To add insult to the injury, when you write to the authors and inform them about the errrors they do not have the courtesy to reply back to you with their comments/acknowledgements/thanks or whatever. I guess because most people have given this book a 4-5 star rating and the authors are minting money. They do not care if the book really does its job or not.

To others who have not yet bought the book, I would advise to check it before they do. Possibly, while you are in the bookstore you would not find any errors until you buy it, and read at home.
