Rating: Summary: Buy it, Pass it, Simple Review: I bought the book two weeks ago, and sat the exam a week ago. Passed with heaps of room to spare. I found the exam hard, but was well equipped from the knowledge imparted in the book. I have used Sybex books to do my MCSE as well, and found them invaluable as a reference tool also. I'm sure this will maintain a valuable place on my shelf for use as I continue studying Cisco routing and switching.Buy it if you want to pass.
Rating: Summary: Like talking to a Buddy Review: This was a very good book and very easy to read. Reading this book is like talking to a buddy. The book gives very good information, and isn't as dry as those "other" books. Todd Lammle knows exactly when to throw in little analogies and jokes that help the learning process along. I played with routers very little while studying for this exam, but the book does an exellent job teaching the commands and theory behind the networking. The end of chapter exercises are very helpful in making sure the concepts are learned, but sometimes do ask for nit picky things (but hey, so does Cisco in those exams!)
Rating: Summary: Best of the Best Review: This book was great! I totally recommend.. I could not have done it with out this book! A++++
Rating: Summary: Disappointed! Review: This book will get you started, but this book alone IS NOT all you need to pass the CCNA exam! Todd's explaination of key concepts were very unclear. I had to buy another book, ICRC, to fill in the gaps. Whatever you learn from this book, do not commit it to you thought processes when trying to understand the material. It will confuse you!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Book Review: What can one say about Lammle! He's a fantastic author who can take some pretty difficult material and put it in a way that's much easier on the brain to understand. A very good read that's easy, but yet very technical at the same time. That's something that's pretty rare today.
Rating: Summary: CCNA Study Guide Review: Todd Lammle's book made it easier for me to understand Routers and Switches plus it followed the Cisco Curriculum. I recommend this book for any student attending the Cisco Networking Academy. Great tool for beginners, also recommend CCNA Virtual lab e-trainer from Todd Lammle (Router Simulator) that's if you can't afford a router or switch. 4th semester Student
Rating: Summary: Most on Target Guide to the CCNA Exam Review: Of the 3 study guides I used for this exam, I found that this one covered all questions asked. The only area I found inconsistent with the book was the forward that explained how the test would be administered. No "question marking" or "going back" was allowed on my exam. Otherwise the technical aspects of the book are quite correct. As these are the final days of exam 640-407, I am sure that any inaccuracies will be eliminated in the newer study guides.
Rating: Summary: All I really needed. Review: I used two other books to help supplement this one. However, it was all I really needed to pass the CCNA exam the first time. I am so confident in Todd Lammle, Donald Porter, and James Chellis, that I purchased the CCDA Study Guide from Sybex. I am sure that I will pass that next exam with ease. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in becoming certifide as well as those who wish to add to their resource library.
Rating: Summary: As Definitive as definitive gets. Review: I can honestly say I owe my CCNA to Todd Lammle. I got a 962 today, using this guide as my main source of reference, backed up by Sybex's Exam Notes. If you can't handle a misspelling in a technical document (I think we're all glad Todd isn't an English major), go try to slug through the Cisco guide. If you want to get your CCNA, with help in plain english, buy this book now.
Rating: Summary: Great TEST prep. now I know what everybody was talking about Review: For me, this great book is second only to the incredibly well-rounded "Cisco Beginners Guide" by Velte & Shaughnessy. The CCNA Guide helped me pass with flying colors by preparing me for the TEST. I'd still recommend other texts to help complete your education. After all, somebody might ask you to DO something with that certification someday. That said, this is a complete book, with little fluff. Something most tech. folks appreciate...very good !
