Summary: Buy it, then pass, just that simple.
Review: With great help from this book, I passed CCNA 2.0 640-507 test this morning with a score of 892 (822 needed to pass) in 50 minutes. The test consisted of 65 problems in 100 minutes, not as tough as I thought. This is the only book I've used. Study this book carefully, if you don't have access to Cisco routers, don't worry, you're not cooked. Read every line in the book, you will be an expert, too. To be honest, I still encountered 2 or 3 problems which I had no clue about. But all the rest could be easily found in Lammle's book. Only suggestion is that, read this book, line by line, again and again, as I did. I read it for 8 times... :-)

Summary: Great Preparation
Review: I have just graduated high school, where I took the first 2 semesters of the Cisco Academy CCNA course. I took the third one during the summer and then registered for the CCNA. I spent 1 1/2 weeks reading the book for the older CCNA version book and taking sample tests and one day reading this book for the new version and taking sample tests. Then, I took the CCNA and passed with a 875. This book and the old one has errors but it prepares you well for the test. I recommend this book for the new version of the CCNA because it is indepth and contains the "higher-caliber" questions that are on the new test. Good luck!

Summary: The book needs revision
Review: Contents focusing on exams objectives but too many typos which lead to misunderstanding in concepts. This is my first time reading the book written by the author whom I have heard his fame. However, I think the author should have done it much better than this. Hopefully, the 3rd edition, if considered, and/or other study guide books for 2000 Cisco exams will not be like this.

Summary: Well written study guide, but I recommend the updated book
Review: Although I used this to pass the CCNA 2.0 exam (870/1000), I recommend the new edition of this book that covers the 640-507 exam more adequately. As you may know, version 1.0 was retired on July 31 of this year.

The book was concise and well written. I had a router to play around with, but if you don't, the diagrams are a good portrayal of a router similation.

Summary: Great Overall - But Full of Errors
Review: This book would have easily been a 4 or 5 star, but it is simply full of serious errors. The errata lists most of them - and some of them are grievous - but the errata misses a few glaring ones. For instance, the IPX/SPX model is drawn incorrectly in regards to how it is mapped to the OSI layers. In the 1st edition of the book, it is drawn correctly, but in this one it is not and no mention is made in the errata list. This is a large error, that could give some people some problems. The coverage is straight-forward however, and the book helps tremendously with the test, and doesn't do a bad job teaching the command line interface (CLI) for the Cisco products. If you buy it, ensure to go to the Sybex sight, and get the errata list, and then look a little more into IPX/SPX to ensure you've got that area straight.

Summary: This study guide is on the money!!!
Review: I used this study guide along with the exam notes and I passed with flying colors; Although I attended a ccna bootcamp using the same study guide (which just reinforced everything), this study guide covered EVERYTHING I saw on the exam. Money well worth spent

Summary: Room for improvement
Review: Lammle makes a worthy effort in this book. Unfortunately, his poor command of grammar detracts greatly from the result. Many times I have found myself scratching my head trying to deconstruct a sentence.

For example, Lammle often uses the word "this" as the subject of a sentence. Used after a lengthy technical discussion, "this" is virtually meaningless as its reference is not clear. To make matters worse, in more than one chapter, he uses "this" as the subject and first word of successive sentences, completely losing the reader.

I am only half way through this book, yet I have already found numerous run-on sentences and, in fact, and an entire paragraph that is meaningless. It seems to me that this book was not edited by a professional.

Summary: I read them both & the WINNER is TODD LAMMLE'S CCNA Study G
Review: I read BOTH of the most popular CCNA Study Guides. One by Todd Lammle and the other by Wendell Odom. And Todd Lammle's CCNA Study Guide was the clear winner. It was easier to read, the examples were clear and concise, and the book flowed better with regard to the CCNA objectives. I'm glad I read Todd's first because he explained things so much better. I would also strongly recommend purchasing Todd Lammle's Exam Notes. For the price of a few beers, you get a great little book summarizing the high points of each chapter and how you'll be tested on them. Thanks to Todd for helping me pass the CCNA the first time !!

Summary: Get this book as single source.
Review: Passed CCNA 2.0 with 956 thanks to this book. This covers all the material you need to know. It's easy to read, well written, and accurate. There are many typos and editing errors but those don't detract much from the info. Work the labs, review the questions, take the practice tests and you're ready to pass. Also reviewed the Wendell Odom book...much too detailed and confusing for the test, but good for cross reference.

Summary: Good Book for preparation for the CCNA 1.0 Exam
Review: I only had this book and one week to study for the CCNA 1.0 exam (I took the exam just before it retired) I passed the exam easily with the help of this book, it's great to prepare for the exam, almost everything is covered, and what isn't covered you can derrive from the theoretics in the book.
