Summary: Thanx Todd Lammle
Review: The best thing in Todd Lammles book is that it is written in a simple straight language making the CCNA objectivies easy to understand. The writer really deserve a big thanx he puts his long years experience into a simple understandable book.this book is a must not an option to obtain your CCNA , combine it with the e-trainer and your done. also note that the updates for this book are avilable at the sybex site which makes you up to date with the exam objectives.Good Look all.

Summary: Todd is 'Da Man!
Review: This book is your primary stop to pass the CCNA 2.0 exam. Read it thorougly, and know all the practice questions cold, including the bonus and assessment exams. You definitely don't wanna underestimate this exam either, the Cisco people who wrote the exam have a way with words. I also supplemented my reading with the Exam Cram book. Got an 881 on the test, need 822. Don't walk into the exam without having the "Show" commands down cold either, especially for RIP, IPX, and access-lists.

Good Luck! -me, MCSE,CCNA

Summary: Excellent test preparation
Review: Everything you need to know for the new exam is talked about in the book. Although there are proofreading problems (you can get the corrections from the Sybex website) I found that they did not interfere with learning the material. After going through the book, I used the CD-ROM for extra practice questions and found that I was prepared to sit for the exam (which I passed my first time).

Summary: I passed! So can you!!
Review: I passed earlier this week on the first attempt!! This book, the CCNA Virtual Lab e-trainer (also from Sybex) and about 2 weeks of real world CISCO experience (3 years ago) were all it took. This book is very well written eventhough there are a few spelling and syntax errors. Nothing that will keep you confused! The exam was not what I expected. I focused more on actually physically putting together and working on a production network. The exam focused more on theory and terminology. It was a very hard exam. I am also an MCSE and I think that this exam was more difficult than those 6 exams. Buy the book, buy the e-trainer and study your ARSE off. That is all it takes. No great words of MAGIC, but one really good book! Thanks to Mr. Lammle and Sybex.

Summary: An excellent CCNA study guide
Review: I read this book from cover to cover at a pretty fast clip, then went back to the beginning and read it again, this time taking notes. This book covers everything you need to know for the exam, but I needed a little more depth on the concepts and more study questions are always good, so I also went through the Wendel Odom Study Guide and the ICND book from Cisco Press.

Any two of these three books in any order is more than adequate for preparation for the CCNA 2 Exam. The Sybex book has clearer and more thorough coverage of the actual IOS command lines you will run into on the test than either of the others, and Todd's explanation of subnetting is excellent.

The sample test questions in the book and on the cd were very close to the actual test itself, in fact I was getting consistantly in the 90% range on the practice test cd and pulled a 913 on the actual test.

You could study from this book alone and pass the test, but I would never sit for a test without going through at least two full guides. When I can spot the errors in the text I know it's time to schedual the exam, and there are a few glaring errors in this book, but not enough to drop my evaluation down to 4 stars. If you want a good leg up on the CCNA this book won't disappoint you.

Summary: The Only CCNA Study Book You Need
Review: This is an outstanding book to thoroughly prepare yourself for the CCNA exam. Although I have been away from Cisco equipment for over 2 years now, I was able to sit down with this book and prepare myself for the exam in just over a week. I used no other materials and came away from the test with a 956. The section on IP addressing finally made the arcane world of subnetting clear to me, enabling me to calculate subnet masks, broadcasts addresses, and host ranges in my head! This book is a must have for anyone serious about obtaining their CCNA.

Summary: You'll be happilly certified.
Review: This is not the only one you need. It lacks detailed explanations about technologies. However to prepare for the CCNA exam, this is a must. Todd uses the same words you encounter on the exam. This will be a big advantage over the Cisco Press cert guide. Highly recommended to become certified EFFICIENTLY.

Summary: This is the one for preparation.
Review: This is the one you need to prepare for the exam. For some technical jargons and deep understandings, you need the course text "Interconneting Cisco Network Devices". The best thing about Todd's book is that he explains in the languages you encounter in the CCNA exam. This will truly make you prepared for the exam. CCNA is the easiest exam of all Cisco certifications. So not much technical jargon or deep understanding was needed to pass this exam (unless you make it hard by yourself).

Summary: Easy to read and understand!!
Review: I recently passed CCNA exam 640-507 with a score of 860 (on my first try). I have read the Cisco Press books as well but found them quite difficult to read and understand.

Todd Lammle's book covers all angles and provides simplified explanations off all CCNA exam objectives. Although this book is extremely helpful, one should read this book several times to fully understand the material required to pass the exam. The exam is based on comprehension, not memorization of questions and answers.

For hands on practice using Cisco router configuration commands, I suggest the Sybex virtual lab trainer.

Summary: The best book to get the CCNA
Review: Thanks a lot Mr Lammle for this book! I passed the CCNA exam with a 953 rpt 953, in this book you will find everything you need to pass CCNA exam, however I reinforced my knowledge with the CCO documentation. I think five starts isn't enough, thanks again and good luck to all CCNA candidates.
