Summary: What a great book. From Delphi to Java in less than 3 Months
Review: What a great book. I jumped into the Java wagon just three months ago. Your book "A Programmers Guide to Java Certification" is the best in the market for people like me that is coming from a Pascal environment (Delphi).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best on the market for beginner --> advanced
Review: This is the best book on the market for java certification, I studied for the certification and entered the exam in sep. 2001, and I got 93% with the aid of this book. I also bought the "Java 2 exam cram" & "The complete Java 2 certification study guide", and I read all of cram, but little chapter in the complete study guide, and simply Khalid's is the best for the following reasons:
1- starts from the begining, assuming u have no expereince, while I nearly completed a year & half in java but I found lots of simple tips that made me know java more better.
2- In most topics cover the topic as explaining not as for certification, as for the four chapters of the AWT, I didn't program AWT before as I'm a server side programmer, but I ONLY learned it from this book, and I got 100% in the AWT part in the exam.
3- Tables included for briefly memorize helped me a lot, as the table in the inner classes which is a very important topic in certification questions.
4- Diagrams & the use of UML ( which I didn't knew when reading the book ) helped me to connect everything with simple diagrams.
5- Questions included in the book r very good, although it is tougher than the exam, but this must be the case so that yr exam will be easy to u.

Disadvanteges:
1- Sometimes I found some words that I must look it up in the dictionary, although some simple words can replace it :((
2- the book included some chapters which r not in the objective in the certification as "APPLETS" & "SWING".

Conclusion:
BUY the book if u want to be certified & read it once then solve as many exams as u can from the net for free :)) & go for the certification

Summary: The BEST book on non-j2ee java.
Review: I have read over a dozen books on the java and this by far the best one for learning the language in its entirety. Obviously, this book can't cover everything but it gives a very thorough and in-depth introduction. If you can only have one book on java 2, make this the one you pick. Many other books on the subject waste tons of space with simple examples that aren't very informative. This book cuts through the nonsense and gives you all it can in its 700 pages. Great explanations, Great Code Samples, all around top notch.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Really Helpful for certification
Review: I found this book to be a very useful resource for the Certification. The questions and mock exam were closer in quality and difficulty to the actual exam compared to other mock exams. I found quite a few other mock exams on the web to be misleading about how difficult the exam would be and also about what type of questions would be asked.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good book for Certification and a little more
Review: This is the most technical book I have read on the Java programming language. The book has only a few typos which is
pretty amazing since it is so technical. I do not recommend using this as an initial learning tool, however, once you have read the basic intro stuff, this book will get you to the other side. Great book for the exam too.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Its tough questions will help you pass and be an expert too
Review: It's not a bad book. There are a gazillion Java books out there. This one tries to cover too many bases. It's not sure if it's a certification book or a text book or some sort of a reference book. If you are trying to study for the exam I would recommend a book that really focuses on the exam. It's hard enough (the exam) without learning a bunch of stuff that you're not going to get tested on! The other thing is it covers the old test not the new 1.4 test.
