Rating: Summary: Gets the job done Review: This book combined with the PMBOK Guide and a few misc. online resources were all I needed to pass the exam by a wide margin. It is concise without a lot of extra fluff. Though there were a few annoying errors in the book (like referring to the PMBOK Guide as just "the PMBOK"), and some of the helpful tips were pretty much common sense, the book did a good job helping prepare for the exam. The book excels at preparing test takers for the situational questions on the exam by explaining the mindset the PMI is looking for. The test questions both in the book and on the CD were fairly true to the actual test.
Rating: Summary: Good Exam Prep Tool Review: This book does as it says it will. It provides a condensed, quick study view of essential PMP material. It complements the PMBOK sufficiently and is solid in its presentation and exam advice. I am not sure what the reviewer who said there where errors all over was reading. If what you read in this book is not making sense, you are in the wrong book. I found this to be a top notch study aid and recommend anyone looking to get the PMP certification to grab this book. Lastly, I am not sure how the physical dimensions of this book even matters??? If the contents good, who cares how big the book is???
Rating: Summary: Good PMP Resource Review: This book is a very helpful supplemental resource to study for the PMP exam. I studied the PMBOK and the ESI Practice Test and Study Guide first and then went through the Exam Cram 2 Practice Questions. They were very helpful in my final preparation for the PMP test. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is preparing for the PMP test.
Rating: Summary: A Great Test Prep Resource Review: This Exam Cram makes it very easy to understand the Five Process Groups and relevant Knowledge Areas with Core and Facilitating Processes. It was this focus on the Process Groups, the phases that one takes when performing an actual project, that more clearly helped me to understand application of the Knowledge Areas and where they fit in.Although undoubtedly the PMBOK is the "BIBLE" of the PMP Exam and a resource without which no one should consider taking the actual exam, I found it to be too focused from the Knowledge Area perspective. I feel in contrast that the Exam Cram's Process Groups approach helped to round out my perspectives and gave me a better overall understanding of the subject matter. Although not the only source of study for the PMP Exam, I found that with the application of the PMBOK, the PMP Exam Cram 2, ESI's The Portable PMP Prep, and Mulcahy's PM Fastrack Exam Simulation, the subject matter was easily demystified and the test became a very achievable task that I passed without the use of any preparatory seminars.
