Review: A fantastic "all in one place" resource for the knowlege areas that need to be mastered to pass the PMI PMP exam. I'd highly recommend this book for both novice and experienced project managers that not only want to become a PMP, but also would like a desk reference for project management.

Review: Answering practice questions is an essential part of studying for the PMP exam. This book gives you 500 questions covering all areas of the PMBOK. I especially liked the "Answers and Explanations" section. It was very thorough and explained in-depth why each response was right or wrong. I highly recommend this to anyone preparing for the PMP and also to those that want to brush up on their knowledge.

Review: Book follows the look and feel of the exam. Neatly encapsulated paragraphs of pertinent information, entitled "Alert" makes review easy. Book can be downloaded onto a computer and reviewed on the road. Great investiment.

Summary: Practical information that really prepares you for the test
Review: Francis' and Horine's book is not only an excellent tool for PMP exam prep, it is an excellent review of IT project management and the PMI fundamentals. I have been a board member at the Central Indiana Chapter of PMI with Mr. Francis for the past two years and the book is just a reflection of David's "where the rubber meets the road" approach to life---David gets things done. This book will get things done for you. It is a fully refined compilation of the author's years of teaching successful study groups (better than 90% of David's students consistently pass the exam). The book is packed with project management insights and practical information that will help you prepare for and pass the test. The only thing better would be a course with the authors themselves (and you can get that http://www.projectmanagementcompany.com). And the PrepLogic exams and simulations on the CD that comes with the book make this a great value.

I used this book for just 2 weeks before the exam, and it was very helpful! I successfully cleared the test!
Ofcourse, this is no substitute to PMBOK, but compliments it well. Esp. in topics like the hiearchy of needs etc. Please be advised that there are some questions with wrong answers.
Also, you may visit the examcram website, where you can take some practice tests.

Summary: excellent reader's disgest version of PMP
Review: I am happy to report that I passed my PMP test on the first try. I studied Francis's book, and PMBOK for 5 consecutive weeks in addition to taking several practice questions from Phillips, Rita, and Heldman's book. You can probably get as much as 60-80% of the necessary knowledge to pass the test from Fracis' and PMBOK guide alone but will most definitely need to study/review other sources even if you have extensive managerial experience. Francis' book gets to the point and reviews the main concepts not covered in the PMBOK namely professional responsibility, and conflict resolution. This book is fairly an inexpensive option over the other books out there.

Review: I am so glad I made this purchase! Reviewing this book along with the PMBOK is an inexpensive, yet extremely effective way to learn what is needed for the PMP exam. The practice CD in the back of the book was also very helpful. The CD takes you through exam questions in the same electronic format in which the actual exam is set up. I would definitely recommend this book.
