Rating: Summary: Nice job. Review: A+ is the foundation certification for all technicians and I personally think should be required for every technician. You need and want the most accurate and up to date material available and this book certainly has all that. I think the timing is a little late with all the other books already out there. The manual has over 1100 pages and covers each exam and all domains. The author has put the exam objective map right in the front of the book. Part 1 of the book covers the hardware and part 2 covers the operating systems. The chapters have a domain breakdown and review before you begin and there are hundreds of exam tips throughout the entire text. Each chapter has review questions and something I found very interesting, exam challenges throughout the chapters. The challenges are not as easy as you might think and they do provide a way to track what you are learning. Each chapter also include additional web resources to further the study process, another add-on to the book I found useful. Finally there is practice exams in the book for each exam. Included in the book is the Prep Logic testing engine and the Prep Logic website does have more exams available. While you can take this book into a self study environment, the formal classroom is where this belongs
Rating: Summary: It would be nice if it has more WindowXP info. Review: Although it is 2003 edition, it doesn't have much information about the WindowXP. I think we need to know more XP since it getting more and more common.
Rating: Summary: XP Review: I am looking at doing the A+ exam in september/October and I need a book that will cover the new sylabus. Can anyone recommend one to me. Or even tell me if theirs one available yet!?
Rating: Summary: This is a great book for study!!! Review: I just buy this book about two week ago, it really really good book. Because I just my A+ Core Hardware part. Rating: Summary: Proved to be effective once again! Review: I just got CompTIA A+ Certified. I passed the OS Exam this morning, with a score of 772, the exam stopped at the 24th question. This book, once again, had helped me a lot in passing the exam. I found some mistakes on some chapters, both on the lessons and the practice questions, but they are obvious and you will be able to figure out which is correct. The PrepLogic Practice Tests are helpful too, even though they are only the Preview Editions. I also have a little experience troubleshooting PCs and i think that helped me too in passing the exam. This book covers all the objectives in detail. I find myself looking at the objectives foldout on the first part of the book, on how many chapters i have left to study. I went to a local store yesterday and browsed on other books that i could find for A+ and Network+, and saw a lot of Sybex books. They seem ok for me, has more pictures of stuff, but when i looked into the objectives list, various chapters cover various domains, which i did not like, i don't know if those books are good, but i know THIS book was really helpful... most books that I found for A+ are already for the new exam coming out, 220-301 and 220-302 i think, Sept 12 will be the change date to the linear (non-adaptive) exams, which has i think 72 questions, including 2003 objectives questions, but does not count to the score till november 2003. Good luck on your exams!

Rating: Summary: Very Thorough. If you use this book, you will be ready Review: I just took my A+ Hardware exam and passed no sweat first time. This book may look intimidating, but I finished the whole thing in one month. And I was very well prepared to take the A+ Exams. I'll be taking the OS exam soon, but I'm sure I'll do even better on that exam than the hardware exam. The book does get penalized 1 star because, in my opinion, it lumps the Windows 9x operating systems together far too often. While they are all basically the same, there are subtle differences in each version that shouldn't be glossed over. Although it makes for a much easier time remembering when you don't have to remember all the differences between five different versions of Windows 9x.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I not only passed the exam, but I saved 30% on my test voucher through a special offer with this book. I'm not sure why the previous reviewer wants more XP info -- it's not tested on this exam! It will be tested on the new exam that is comign in September.
Rating: Summary: Good for those who want to learn Review: I ordered this to start on my MCSE certifications. It is a great begining place, but definetely is not for people who are just starting. To understnad this book, you need some basic computer knowledge. The included tutorials and web references are great for those who really want to get in depth with the material. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Resource for A+ Exam Review: I passed A+ Core Hardware today, with a score of 817. The test stopped at the 21st question. I can say that this book helped me a lot in passing the exam. I also used CramSession's materials, and I attended a class as well. I feel that this book contributed the most in passing my exam. The Sample Test on the CD it came with provided questions that appeared on the actual exam, even though the sample test is only the preview edition. I am about to take the A+ OS Technologies exam, and I am sure this book will help me again with that. I plan to get the Network+ book from the same publisher of this book. Good Luck with your exams!!!
