Rating: Summary: I really, really like this product Review: I used this in my CCNA class at Cisco and it was awesome. Instead of sharing equipment, I had my own network to configure. The sims in this product are just like the sims I received on the exam. If you want to pass the new 607 product, check this out... COOOL!
Rating: Summary: Great Study Tool Review: I used this lab plus the Sybex CCNA e-Trainer for 3 weeks and passed 640-507 with a 945/1000 score. This lab isn't perfect as it doesn't replicate the entire IOS command set, but it does give you what you need to become a CCNA.
Rating: Summary: Poor man's Cisco router. Review: If you don't have an access to a Cisco router, this tool is the way to go. Also, there are books that cover the Cisco IOS extensively: "Cisco IOS for IP Routing" by Andrew Colton and "Cisco IOS in a Nutshell" by James Boney. These two should take a long way to a very good understanding of Cisco routing.
Rating: Summary: Has what it takes....for very little cash.... Review: Instead of buying routers, I bought the Sybex CCNA Virtual Lab. It was good and I gave it a great Amazon rating. However, this is, and I am guesing here, the Second edition, which basically is just more routers, switches and hosts to configure and work within a fixed network environment. Works great, with more supported commands and worth every cent --much better then any Cisco software product! You MUST get the Todd Lammle Sybex CCNA Study Guide to read along with this product and then practice the labs. Good luck!
Rating: Summary: Nice, but I found online labs CHEAPER and BETTER. Review: No question, this lab sim is good and provides a nice topology to work with. BUT, for the coin you have to spend, you may find a better way to go. Check out IPExpert.com. They provide a free CCNA workbook with about 20 labs in it. Then check out www.gettLabs.com. They provide a FREE rack to work through the IPExpert labs. For no money, you can work with REAL equipment. Read the gettLabs Support forums before you start. There is a lot of helpful infomation for CCNA people using their equipment. I liked Sybex, but it is just too hard to justify the cost.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Lab Review: The best lab I found, there is no substitue.
Rating: Summary: Exelent virtual lab! Sybex has created a great learning tool Review: The Sybex Gold lab edition takes most router commands at any piont in the labs, and just like real routers they accept short abriviations of commands, unlike Cisco's v-labs that require the exact command in full syntax for each short activity. The writen lab activities cover about 1/4 of the most important information from the first four semesters of the Cisco Netwoking academy, 's lab program, it very convientaly puts togeather important second semester information with fourth semester information and it does a good job. This lab is not built the same way as the official Cisco lab set up, and you can't change the change the serial lines...
Rating: Summary: Good foundation, but not needs updating for 607 test... Review: This is a good package to get used to configuring routers and switches, but it does not provide enough to pass the new (607) test. Your editorial reviews state that the Virtual Gold package gives you "everything and more" to handle the simulations. This is flatly not true--the actual test simulations are totally different than your package. I was very frustrated when I took the test to find the simulations so completely different. Also, they had troubleshooting simulations your package did not offer, as well as portions not even covered by your package! Someone obviously just changed the 640-507 to 640-607 in their editorial review. This package needs to be updated, and someone needs to pay attention to the accuracy of their claims! This may have been great for the 507 exam, but not the new one.
Rating: Summary: Great program when studying for the new CCNA 607 exam! Review: This is a nice put together program that will help prepare you for the new SIMs that Cisco is using on the new 607 CCNA exam. If you want to understand the sims as well as gain hands-on knowledge, then this is the software you need, along with Todd Lammle's book - of course!
Rating: Summary: Experience is Golden Review: This Lab is excellent, you can not go for the CCNA test if you dont know the sh commands, or basic command outputs, its good enough to pass the test however if you really want some hardcore CCNA practice get RouterSim v 3. One thing that Sybex CCNA gold lacks are Debug commands. good luck.
