Summary: A good book that needs more technical content
Review: I have passed the 9i upgrade test partly thanks to this book. This books needs to be updated with more technical content. Topics like supplemental logging and minimum no. of granules that a database can have, etc must be added. Also lot of topics needs more explanation from an OCP exam view. It would be nice if the typo errors are corrected.

I read Oracle 9i new features written by Robert Freeman which has good technical content and oracle doc's to pass the test.

Summary: Good Reference But don't Completely Rely Only on this
Review: I just Passed the OCP-9i Upgrade Exam .
I Mostly relied on this book.
After the exam i'm realising that,i should have read Documents parallely.
So if you are planning to take OCP,put equal or MORE effort to read the Documents...
About OCP : You will get More multiple choice questions than earlier exams...so time will be a costraint...
Best of Luck for the exam...

Summary: Well, it works. A kind of ..
Review: I just passed the test and I think it is possible to pass the test using only this book for preparation. However, I wouldn't rate the book too high. The language is really boring. It wouldn't be ok for documentation, but not good for teaching. To make life harder, the book and the supplied CD contain mistakes. Once you've found a few, you can't trust the book anymore and have to double check the info you're not sure about. It really makes your experience miserable.

However, all questions I had at the test were covered in the book so the content is adequate, it's just the presentation is bad.

Summary: It's a good book
Review: I read the book, it really help. My suggestion is to read this book before OCP exam and before start to use Oracle9i.

Summary: Worked For Me
Review: I read the book, purchased and practiced the STS exams and passed the certification exam. While there were a few typo's in the book, I documented them and sent them to the author. He replied almost immediately and appreciated my documention. I did not find the typo's a big deal. The book was the first one out covering this topic and this was the first printing. I anxiously awaited delivery of the book. Typo's are to be expected, no big deal. The book served my purpose completely: I learned the new features of 9i and passed the upgrade exam on the first try within two weeks of starting on the book.

Summary: Does the job
Review: I used this book as my primary study guide and passed the exam with over 90% score. It covers all topics relevant to the exam. The tests are quite good, apart from a few errors in answers. However, you do need another reference- either the 9i DBA Handbook or similar.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great way to target your studies
Review: I used this book in conjunction with the Oracle documentation set to study for my 9i upgrade exam. I would not rely on this book alone, but it provides a structured way to target your studies to make the most efficient use of your time. It definitely helped me pass the exam with a minimum of preparation time.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good enough to pass OCP
Review: I was scared on seeing other reviews before taking the exam.Though the book has lot of errors, it is sufficient to pass the 9i new features exam.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good for the exam
Review: If your goal is to pass the upgrade exam, this book is useful inspite of minor errors. You will also need to refer to Oracle manuals and really practise on Oracle 9i to get the concepts right and pass the exam.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good prices
Review: If your going to Fairleigh Dickinson University and your taking up Oracle New Features will need this book
