Review: For many years my husband and I have searched for a Bible Dictionary for our home. We needed a Bible Dictionary that we could understand, After all if it is not written so you can understand it,then it didn't answer your questions or help you. If you are looking for a GREAT Bible Dictionary your search is over. Nelson's we take our hats off to you. Thanks for giving us the best Bible Dictionary ever.It speaks to you in layman's terms, very clear, informative and engaging. We have both sat down to "read" this Bible Dictionary more then once and look forward to doing it again. A must for every home and a Blessing.

Summary: Not a Concordance
Review: Great Bible Dictionary but don't be fooled, this is not a Concordance. I, being relatively new to in depth studying, was slightly disappointed that it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. But I am finding myself reaching for this rather large book quite often. This book has a permanent place on my coffee table and will probably have a worn look to it very soon because of the amount of use it is seeing. Anybody intersted in the Bible would benefit by owning this great book.

Review: I bought this as a reference guide, but found I had a great deal of difficulty putting it down. The explanations are comprehensive, informative and not only guide you through the bible, but give you a history of the people and their time.

Summary: The Best Reference Book I own
Review: I own many reference books. but once I purchased this book I no longer use the others. This Bible Dictionary along with your Bible gives you everything you need to study God's Word. This book explains everything. It even spells out how to pronounce the word. An excellent resource. Everyone needs this book in their library.

Review: If you are only going to buy one resource to go with your Bible then this is it! A Bible dictionary is very important for looking up not only key Biblical terms to help you understand an unfamiliar term, but this Bible dictionary has a vast amount of archeological & historical data, color picutes and maps, outlines and concise summarys for each book of the Bible and information about it's authors. This book has a nearly unlimited amount of reference potential. I highly recommend Nelson's Bible dictionary.

Summary: Indispensable Reference Tool
Review: If you are ready to dig a little deeper, then you need to add this Dictionary to your own personal library. If you could only purchase one other study guide, this should be the one. An indispensable reference tool that can be used alone or side by side with any Bible or Study Bible translation (KJV, NKJV, NASB, NIV, RSV, etc.)As you read the definitions of various words or topics of interest, it provides continuous cross-references to Scripture verses; similar to a good Concordance or the teaching methods used by the most reliable Christian authors. Easy to understand, non-denominational, a wealth of pictures and graphics. The section on Bible translations and correct Bible interpretation is worth the cost of this book alone. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." Hosea 4:6.

Summary: You don't have a dictionary until you have this one!
Review: If you want a clear understanding of words in the Bible with a Non Denominational point of view, this is the Dictionary for you. The Strong's Dictionary bring words to meaning. But the Nelson's Illustrated Version brings words to life. Both Dictionaries serve a tremendous purpose. I also ordered Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Manners & Customs : How the People of the Bible Really Lived. The two of these books together have an AMAZING Insight on how people not only lived but how they spoke! This gives you better understanding of why certain things were said in the Bible and clears up a some of the theological questions you may have. Take for example if I said, "This is a really cool book". 1000 years from now you would think I was saying this book is very cold. But really I meant this book is very useful, neat, or exciting. These Two Nelson books go hand in hand. My wife and I can not put these books down. They are just so useful and really do bring the Bible to life.
