Rating: Summary: Beautiful Charecter Building for Females Review: Every girl or women should own this book. It deals with Christian charecter building, for girls primarily, but any female could learn from this book. I have read it over and over. It has a lovely cover and even the pages have a flower and leaf border. It really is a wonderful, lovely book.
Rating: Summary: All Right Review: Hi,my name is Carley Adeler. This book was OKAY.It was a little boring, but it was ALL RIGHT.I'd prefer to read a different book any day,but the book wasn't TOO BAD.The book itself was a little old fashioned,so watch out.
Rating: Summary: Not inspiring Review: I absolutely LOVE this book! It has helped me so much in my walk with Christ and how I look at myself and carry myself, etc. I've read this book three times over and am starting on the 4th time. I read a chapter every day and pray over what I read asking God to give me the grace to be the beautiful girl He desires me to be, not just in outward appearance but inwardly too! I have the Ideal Woman list on my mirror and every day I pray that I will be that ideal woman =). Yeah, it does have some old language but I think its beautiful. Girls now have lost the sense of who they are as women and this book really brings it back. We're not something to be paraded around or ogled. We are Proverbs 31 women......

Rating: Summary: Karen Andreola's Poor Revision Review: I first read this revised edition, and then I went back and read an original unrevised version. Karen Andreola did a poor job in revising Mabel Hale's delightful book "Beautiful Girlhood." Frankly, I found her revision to have an unbiblical feminist flare to it that I wouldn't want to encourage in my (future) daughters. To everyone that I recommend "Beautiful Girlhood" to I always make a point to have them find an original edition, and avoid Karen Andreola's revised edition. It would have been better to have left well enough alone. =) Look for an unrevised editon--it will be a blessing and delight and well worth the read!

Rating: Summary: Lovely and Sweet Review: I have a daughter in the throes of adolescence and have found that reading this charming book together is a wonderful way to strengthen the mother-daughter bonds. The short chapters encourage and inspire young girls to grow into lovely young women. It is deservedly a best selling title among home schoolers.
Rating: Summary: Offended and bored Review: In what century was this book written? The 1800s, I'd say. It's dated and quite irritating.I am in full favor of women being strong, dignified, and feminine, but unfortunately this book is strongly irrelevent to modern-day society. The writing is smug and somewhat in-your-face, with a few good sections amidst the tripe. In today's world, a woman must usually get a college degree and then a career, but this book insinuates that a girl will sit at home and sew until a boy manages to get out the words "marry" and "you" in the same sentence. There is virtually nothing on women who are intending to work, even for a time, but there are extensive sections on how you should converse with "good" boys (good grief, how does the author know what the guys want to talk with me about? I have spoken with many guys, and they never speak to me as the author claims they will) Some parts, on modesty, being a mom, and parental relationships, would be better if they didn't insinuate that teens are aching to run off and TP someone's house. It gives you pushy instruction on what types of books to read, what music to listen to, and how much makeup will make you look like a tramp. At the same time, it makes frequent references to nineteenth century clothing and fashions, and how everything about you, regardless of what looks good, should be "simple." Unfortunately, none of this is relevent to a girl who faces the problems of today. On the subject of sex and boyfriends, it pretty much sidesteps such issues as chastity, premarital sex, and unwed pregnancy. It talks more about whether the girls and boys should arm-wrestle, and whether you should daydream about your ideal guy. (Kindly do not tell me how to interact with men) In a word, this book is outdated, an archaic form of "The Rules", and has little to do with what women and girls today will have to deal with. Instead of giving your daughter a book, sit her down and give her a talk modified for the 21st century.
Rating: Summary: This is the sweetest book. Grab your daughter + some tea. Review: My twelve year old is thoroughly enjoying our times together with this book. I recommend it to every Mother and daughter for special times together, building virtue, wisdom, and a sweet relationship. The chapters are short. The author wrote with all the beauty and charm she is calling the reader to. You will surely be blessed through this book.
Rating: Summary: Not inspiring Review: Sadly, this book isn't very inspiring. To me,it wasn't written in a way that would actually get you thinking, like other books I've read.Frankly, the author wrote this book with a rather dull tone.
