Rating: Summary: A wonderful journey Review: Farinelli brings Italy and all things Italian to life in a way that makes me want to sell all of my possessions, leave the US and start a new life in the harmony of Tuscany for the rest of my days. Simply inspiring. I am giving copies to all my friends and family for the holidays. Multo bene!!
Rating: Summary: Good supplemental material Review: I am studying Italian (early intermediate) and find these short writings (most are one page) useful for reading something in addition to the text. The difficulty level varies from advanced beginner to mid-intermediate; one verb tense was new to me and I had to look it up, so it pushed me to go a bit beyond my level.
Rating: Summary: A Good Read Review: I found that Jean Farinelli's, "Diario della studentessa Jean" filled a void in the outside reading material available for students of Italian who are no longer beginners, but not quite ready for texts with more extensive vocabularies. It was a brilliant idea to have Professor Schlempp supervise the writing so as to ensure the linguistic accuracy of the material. The stories are real-life experiences told in a humorous way. The author's obvious delight in discovering and ultimately mastering some of the intricacies of the Italian language is infectious. It must be in her genes!
Rating: Summary: Jean's Life Review: I loved the intelligently written short stories...especially the one on a day that the author spent in Atlantic City, NJ.
Rating: Summary: Great reading Review: Italian book with amazing short stories that are funny, interesting and thoughtful. I did not want to stop even after I reached the end.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyed it !! Review: Its a great book if you are learning italian and want to have a fun element in it. The stories are written in simple language and give a very nice introduction to the italian language and culture.
Rating: Summary: Una recensione Review: Questo piccolo libro e divertente perche l'autrice raconta le storie breve di la sua vita. Lei usa le parole e la grammatica semplice che si impara mentre il corso elementare del italiano. Lo studente qui vuole avere pui pratica con la lingua si piaceranno le teme.
Rating: Summary: A super compliment to anyone studying Italian! Review: Short, easy to understand stories make "Diario" a wonderful accompaniment to the beginner student of Italian or anyone that loves Italy. To supplement their lessons, I recommend this book to my own students.
Rating: Summary: Great little book Review: This book is a great, little find. I loved the short, punchy stories and especially the ones about Petie Boy and Ralph. And, Roscoe, the author's invented character is truly a gem.
Rating: Summary: A terrific supplement! Review: This book is a wonderful supplement for anyone studying Italian. For example, Ms. Farinelli's frustration over the subject of prepositions will surely evoke a laugh for anyone that has struggled to understand Italian grammar.
