Summary: Not What You'd Expect, But . . .
Review: When you read the title of the book, I'm sure you're thinking that this will be a book all about the books that the author read during her "year of passionate reading." However, this is not exactly the case. While Nelson does talk about the books she reads, she uses them as jumping-off points to discuss her views on other aspects of reading. For example, she starts to read a book called Nine Parts of Desire, but then someone sends her a copy of Her, so she uses this as a reason to talk about reading more than one book at a time. While the title is misleading, or at least not clear enough, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book. I often identified with Nelson's subjects, like how difficult it is to just stop reading a book. It is interesting and will keep your intention, but if you're looking for a book to recommend other books, try Bibliotherapy instead.
