Summary: Excellent Buy!
Review: Having purchased Behind the Wheel Italian and having actually learned to speak Italian from it, I wanted to share this method with a friend, so I bought the 2CD Easy Speedy Italian to give her a taste of what I had experienced.
Once again, a small name in the foreign language business comes up with the best method and course. From beginning to end, this course, in an interested way, takes you from zip to conversational in Italian without having to guess. Everything is included on the CDs which makes this perfect for the car or gym. The English speaker gives you the English once, and Anna (the native Italian speaker) gives you the Italian twice. Most important of all, this unique approach to language learning gets you speaking your own original sentences so that you can really speak the language, not just parrot a bunch of incomprehensible jibberish.
Congratulations to Language Dynamics, the small company, for having the creativity and innovation to make the best basic Italian language course on the market.

Summary: Not a good buy.
Review: I purchased the cds because they were well priced and had not received any poor reviews. When the set arrived I was very dissappointed when I began to listen to it. The worst thing about this product is that the cds are not divided up into tracks. It is one long continuous track on both cds. Very hard to fast foward through while driving.

The author spends the first 5 minutes yacking about how he learned Spanish (yes, I said Spanish) and other stuff irrelivant to the Italian language (including his credentials). Much like the introduction on the cd set, the vocabulary content is pretty much irrelivant to anything anyone might want to say when traveling to Italy. I think it's more important to know phrases associated with things like eating out and transportation than knowing verbs. Most of both cds are the same verbs over and over again using different subjects. I don't believe I will be telling anyone in Italian about me singing or dancing or that "I am able to sleep" or "I can eat". . .aren't most people able to sleep and eat? And who goes to Italy on vacation and tells someone in Italian that "I/he/she has to work"? Just completly useless phrases. Maybe if you'd like to tell the Italian people you can sing, dance, eat, and sleep this will be helpful to you.

I quickly realized I was not going to be listening to this set much and I would need a phrasebook to take with me. At the bookstore I found I could buy the Berlitz Italian CD pack with a pocket-size phrase book (with bilingual dictionary in the back) for the same price. An incredible improvement. I recommend this set instead.

Summary: This One Goes to Mom
Review: My mother is planning a trip to Venice this summer and I have searched for the best and easiest way for her to learn a little 'survival Italian'.
Neither my mother nor I are linguists, although I have a lot more language experience than she does and I have studied and do speak some Italian.
I have chosen Easy Speedy Italian for Mom because my review of the course shows me that it is fast and easy. The no grammar down to earth approach really helps people who haven't had a formal background in the language. I am certain that she will love Easy Speedy Italian as much as I have enjoyed reviewing it for her.
