Rating: Summary: brings a spiritual dimension to self help Review: Excellent. Also leads one to read another life changing book, Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning. I have found that meditation opens the gap Covey refers to between events and ones reaction to them. Meditation has taught me how to observe my thoughts and feelings. 7 Habits helps me organize my progress.
Rating: Summary: Puts your life into perspective Review: Covey cleanly helps you to identify and organize the things that are important to you and ensure that you spend your time on these things. His approach can be applied to every aspect of your life, not just business or relationships at home. Very good.
Rating: Summary: The Law of the Harvest Holds True Review: This book has changed a lot of lives. I teach the Seven Habits to other people who ask me how I have managed to do many of the things I have, and still balance work, family, etc. Covey proposes sound, down-to-earth principles for achieving happiness, success, and managing "yourself" in time.A lot of people, accustomed to those "quick fix" programs, find that they work no better than the quick weight loss, fad diets. You think you are doing great, for a short time, then you begin encountering hurdles. This book is a let-down for people who have become addicted to such short-term thinking. With patience, periodic review of the 7-Habits book, and determination, you can change your life. Covey never said he would do it for you. But he has produced a great tool for helping you put it all into perspective.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS OVERRATED!! Review: I just finished reading this book, and have to say it was a serious let-down in light of the reviews. Let me save you some time and money: 1) You are responsible for your own life, so do something about it. 2) Make a plan for yourself. 3) Focus on what's important. 3)You reap what you sow--so sow well. 4)Seek mutually beneficial relationships. 5) Have empathy and be considerate to others. 6)Be cooperative. 7) Take care of yourself--mind, body, and soul. ----Ground-breaking stuff, isn't it?!?! Mr. Covey is a wealthy man for this?! Hmmmmmmm.
Rating: Summary: A Master work feeling until you close it !! Review: That happens with almost books in this area. They never tell you how difficult it is in the life to change words in acts. And this is a very different challenge you will face as soon as you close the book, no matter how convinced or delighted you are with the master piece.
How many people did improve their life with the reading and how many failed even to apply a single chapter ?
Words are a very comfortable chair and practice
like sitting on a hard wood.
Rating: Summary: READ IT, YES...BUT I DOUBT YOU'LL BUILD YOUR LIFE AROUND IT. Review: IT'S A GREAT AND IMPORTANT WORK THAT EVERY PROGRESSIVE PERSON SHOULD READ. I DOUBT ANYONE COULD BUILD THEIR LIFE AROUND IT, THOUGH. TO NOT READ IT IS TO BE UNINFORMED. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT A VERY INSPIRING PHILOSOPHY TO BUILD YOUR LIFE AROUND. AT TIMES IT SMELLS OF "MANIPULATION." WOULDN'T IT BE BETTER TO BE "REAL?"
Rating: Summary: great book Review: the book was very powerful and meaningful it made every thing seem more clear
Rating: Summary: Every student starting college should read it. Review: This is a wonderful book. Every student stsrting college should read it. It's like a mental pressure release system. It helped me avoid getting stressed out. In addition, Covey shows you how to be yourself and feel good about who you are.
Rating: Summary: effective, somewhat Review: I enjoyed listening to the tape series of '7 Habits of Highly Effective People'. The seven habits described are very true to be present within an individual to succeed in any endevor of life. However, I do feel that Steven Covey doesn't describe enough on how to obtain these 7 habits so they are lasting as a habit is. I do plan on reading the book '7 Habits of Highly Effective People' and maybe there are more tools on aquiring these habits.
Rating: Summary: So simple, so useful, so insightful - I wish I'd read sooner Review: I could not believe how simple, and useable this book is. I have read, re-read, and encouraged all my friends to read as well. This is a must-read for all professional, families, and people just wanting to be more effective in their lives. It is a book of practical knowledge that needs to be read by all. Philip Wagoner
