Rating: Summary: Magnificent Book I Ever Read Of Self-Development Review: First I read my friend's copy of this Book, then re-read it making notes of every chapter in my note-book, and at last I bought it! Almost two years passed, but I am not sorry of having and using it. It helps me a lot to change my personality and the world around as well as Richard Bach's books. Thank you, Mr. Covey!
Rating: Summary: Excellent and time for self introspection Review: Covey's presentation skills and his power to articulate and comprehend are excellent. The subject areas presented by him may seem obvious, but the reality is that they are not so obvious. It gives us a good opportunity to understand where we stand and what we need to do in order to achieve our goals in professional and personal lives. We need to understand that we have come into this world with a purpose and Covey's thought provoking ideas can bring you closer to that purpose.
Rating: Summary: When it's great, you're going to have people argue with you Review: A wonderful book that I felt I needed to read because of the 60+ reviews! Good reviews, bad reviews--read it for yourself. Remember, anything that is great is always going to have those who just can't grasp the idea, they are either to hard headed to think that they need to change or they are to stupid to know the difference. Always remember that everyone has room for improvement. If you seriously want to humble yourself and take a deep look at what's inside and improve it then this book is for you. If you want a quick fix-me-up go somewhere else. I have worked through depression several times since high school--all because I've never learned what my priorities really are. Now that I know what things I need, I haven't had any set backs, just breaking new ground and reaping the rewards. But the only way to find out if the book is worth putting on your shelf is to read it for yourself. Don't cheat yourself, sit down and answer all the questions in the book.
Rating: Summary: This book can change your life... Review: I read this book in 1990. I have applied its principles for the past eight years. Through this application, I have developed stronger interpersonal relationships, and have reaped huge rewards. Yes, these may be obvious principles, but Covey presents them in a way that is easy to internalize. Buy it now. Read it. Apply it. Change your life.
Rating: Summary: One More Tool for the Toolbox Review: Having "worked" through this book many times as both a participant and a group leader I can attest to the "life changing" usefulness of this book. Through reading, analysis, and application, this becomes a powerful set of tools for any individual. Is it the single solution? No! There is a lot of Covey that doesn't fit each and every person. The usefulness has to be worked through many readings. Suggestion: find a group of people to read this with and discuss the usefulness of the various elements a lot. Don't expect miracles, the ability to make changes is within you, not inside the covers of a book.
Rating: Summary: Thought-provoking and morally correct Review: The book changed my attitude about my work and the poor manner in which I showed love for my family and friends. It's like a new lease on life. I am now seting priorities by putting 'First Things First' and following the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.' It's a joyous tribulation to finally get things moving in some type of organizaed order. Thank you Mr. Covey for writing such great books. God Bless You.
Rating: Summary: PUT IT IN YOUR CART NOW. Review: I am probably on my third or fourth time through Covey's book, and each time through I make another connection. He not only has very important things to say, he also says them all very well. His models are easy to conceptualize and can make a lasting impact on your life if you are willing to make a few changes. I honestly wish I could be better at following Covey's map. When I do, I am very happy! My prediction: If you buy this book and are serious about improving your life, relationships, work, family, etc, you will read this book many times. Definitely a bargain.

Rating: Summary: fabulous CONCRETE suggestions for structure, chaos breakthro Review: Not exactly a self-help or inspirational book, but in a time when moral direction is so outwardly forcused and so frequently missed, this provides all the lost souls, and many of the astute, with nearly palpable, viseral direction, focus and hope. Inspirational without being condescending or preachy.. especially hopeful in that the author encourages us as readers to pass the information along through casual teaching to otheres, as a form of reinforcing his lessons. Actually pretty cool foundation, esp. time mgmt, roles and goals etc. WAtch out, don't obssess
Rating: Summary: Uncommon Sense Review: I found this book to be quite remarkable. In fact, I recomend this book more than any other. It is very accessable, an easy read. The only hard part is implementing it, making these 7 ideas into habits. Understanding them is easy, making them intrinsic parts of your being...that's the hard part. Critics complain this book is nothing but common sense. Maybe so, but I have yet to see SO much common sense distilled into such a simple and clear form. Can you learn all this without the book? Sure, chances are you already know most of it. But the real strength of this book is not what it gives you, but what it doesn't give you. What Covey has done is researched the "success literature" of the last 100 years, found the re-occuring themes and presented them in a clear and concise way. This is the reason why this book is important. It is not yet another person spouting how to be a success. It is someone distilling all that previous info, seperating the wheat from the chafe, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO. This book is like a fillet mignon, cut from the cow of success literiture. Nothing but the good stuff.
