Summary: Excellent book
Review: This book is a starting point for those who have New Year resolutions to excel in any area of life. Effective, concise, and addictive.

I have personally seen a change in my demeanor and outlook after reading this work, and I have bought copies for my associates. A great gift book for executives and businesspersons.

Summary: Not as excellent as is made to be...
Review: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective people has introduced a number of new words into our lexicon: paradigm-shift, Win-Win (which Covey did not create, but popularized), and synergy. However, the book itself is overhyped, and is certainly not that powerful. Covey writes incessantly about the life-changing effects of the seven habits, but they are moderately helpful techniques for living. Perhaps the best book on a similar subject, principle-centered living, is the Road Less Traveled. It's a timeless volume by M. Scott Peck. I suggest reading it in any diet of "mental health" literature. Still, kudos to anyone reading these books; it means you want to learn. That will happen, but not by reading Covey.

Summary: An excellent handbook for self examination
Review: I have a girlfriend who has allowed her family and friends to make most of the decisions in her life. This book opened the door for her to start making decisions for herself. It provided her with examples of why its important, and how to get started. Dont pass this one up!

Summary: Well worth the time and money
Review: I first heard about the 7 Habits a couple of years ago, but didn't think it would apply to me. Recently I attended a management seminar, where the instructor couldn't say enough good things about the book. I finally realized that if I wanted my life to improve I had to do it for myself. I bought this book and was impressed. I can't say that there were earth-shattering changes in my life, but I do see subtle changes in the way I see the world after reading it once. I'm sure that as I go through it again and work on some of the exercises, I will be able to improve myself even more. Much of what is discussed is obvious, but the illustrations and examples show how to better incorporate these concepts into your life. It might seem obvious to live according to your principles, but how many of us have gotten distracted by our jobs, and realized much later that we're neglecting what's really important? If you are hesitant about actually buying the book, I recommend checking it out of the library or borrowing it from a friend first.

Summary: How many books can this guy write about the obvious?
Review: I can't believe the reviews for this book. I wasn't presented with anything new or thought-provoking. The only thing I can assume is that those who find this book to be thoughtful must live very sheltered lives!

Summary: December 2, 1998...Handbook of a Lifetime
Review: A book which changes you inside and outside. He breaks the process of personal change into smaller parts. He explains in enriched details and examples which helps you along in powerful lessons. In my opinion, his comparison with the Bible and his theory fits like a hand and glove. Excellent and a definite winner.

Summary: Trite, ill-written, bigoted
Review: Over-hyped, this book might have made a good page in the old Reader's Digest. I read the first 20 pages and the last chapter. The rehashing of ideas, the overloaded LDS theology, and the sheer number of platitudes rendered my copy fodder for the wastebasket.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Unparalled in all extra-biblical literaturedom
Review: My reading experience with this book has brought the settled conviction that it is the most profound book - apart from the Bible itself - that I have ever encountered. Don't make the mistake of lumping this book in with all the other Success /Get-your-life-straightened-out literature filling today's book store shelves. This one is not in a league of its own, it is in a universe of its own.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: great personal leadership book!
Review: If you want to improve your self, your family life, your work life, or your leadership style, take a look at this book! Guaranteed success lies in this book, should each suggestion be followed.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent introduction to principled-living
Review: Although the slight bias from his religious upbringing leads some particulars into meaninglessness (if you define your self on the basis of principles, the difference between being principle-centered and being self-centered literally disappears), it otherwise excels at helping us get back on the track we left upon beginning the War Between the States. To say civil war is to corrupt the meaning of both civility and war.
