Summary: It changed the direction of my business
Review: After reading Secrets of Sacred Space, I realized that my business name 'THE GEOMANCER' commanded that I learn much more about the spiritual side of geomancy. The book enlightened me in such a manner that I decided to re-direct my primary business focus of FENG SHUI to the crucial service of making sure my client's homes are 'healthy' to live in. It has also convinced me to begin meditation. Thank you Chuck, for your well-written guide. I urge others to read, learn and assist us in our quest for a healthier earth.

Summary: Secrets of Sacred Space
Review: Chuck Pettis is keeping the tradition of sacred stone circles alive! This is a well-balanced book, taking either a traditional, scientific approach to sacred spaces, or encouraging people to create their own power centers. Secrets of Sacred Space is filled with photos, drawings, diagrams, and a brilliant color insert. If the geometry gets too overwhelming, you'll be comforted with the wisdom and history within. Ever wondered why certain place just don't feel right? Learn about negative energy and the good energy of power centers all over the world. Secrets of Sacred Space is your chance to re-connect with the earth.

Summary: Secrets of Sacred Space
Review: If you have any interest in sacred spaces like stone circles, then this is the book for you. This is the most comprehensive, detailed book out there on the subject. While the book gives you an introduction into understanding and creating sacred space, it is chock full of beautiful pictures of beautiful places. Besides that, it also gives you the details you need to know to create your own powerful sacred space. Now you could say that I'm biased because the author is my dad, but he has been doing research on this topic since I was born, 27 years ago, and he is a top notch expert on sacred space. Another great thing about this book is that it isn't boring reading. Chuck Pettis introduces the reader to concepts of sacred space by telling stories about his adventures that are really amazing, like the whole chapter on the Ellis Hollow stone circle. Some of the stories are scary to, like the encounter that he and his friend Mike had while map dowsing Seattle. This is the type of book that I put next to Andy Goldsworthy's books on the table and watch my guests ooh and ah. Buy it now and prepare yourself for a new way of looking at the world.

Summary: Esoteric AND Practical
Review: This is a book about the art and science of earth monuments. It is written in a friendly and accessible style with many rich anecdotes by a man who has committed many years to not only the study of sacred place, but to practical construction of new monuments. Surprisingly, it is not an exhaustive documentation or analysis of ancient sites, though there is some brief discussion of these. It is, first and foremost, a practical guide for those who wish to investigate the subtle aspects of place and to create sacred places today. For example, each chapter ends with a concise summary of the information covered in the chapter and a list of suggested exercises. The appendices include tables of the angles for significant solar and lunar events for several latitudes.

The most remarkable thing about this book is the seamless blend of the mystical with the mathematical. Chuck Pettis is a mathematician, but is also a well known dowser and ley line hunter. Expect to have earth angels and subtle energies explained in one breath, and the mathematics of planetary motion and symbolic geometry in the next. I am enthusiastic about this book. It has inspired me to begin design of my own stone circle. But I will admit a bias. I have had the pleasure of knowing the author personally for many years.
