Rating: Summary: Excellent introduction to communication systems theory Review: As an undergraduate student in electrical engineering at the University of Wisconsin - Madison I was fortunate to study communication systems theory from Professor Stremler himself using the previous edition of this book. This book is clearly designed as an undergraduate text, but should serve nicely as a professional reference as well. This book is a good value and is well written.
Rating: Summary: simply awful - worst textbook i've ever had Review: I have never seen a book that skimps on so much details. The book was an absolute nightmare to read the first time and it just rambles on and on without any sense of direction. The end-of-chapter problems seem to have no resemblance to the material because the explanations are so convoluted. The worst part of it is how this book claims to be ideal of self-paced instruction, but I cannot see how it can be any worse. There are very few examples in the book that are often poorly explained, but they give an awful lot of "drill problems". The solutions manual provides no insight or explanations whatsoever; it is very common to see no more than 2 lines for a "solution". Anything by Haykin is a much better than this piece of junk. I had to relearn my course material through Haykin because this book is so bad.
Rating: Summary: bad book Review: very hard to read, very expensive for what it is. I buy this book for a course of telecommunication, and i dont use it because it is really bad! I sold this book right after i finish the course.
