Summary: A step in the wrong direction.
Review: Don't jeopardize all your training and education with this terrible book. I am a recent graduate of the Army Practical Nurse Course. After graduation and before taking the NCLEX, Ft Sam Houston (the Army's medical HQ) decides we should get a couple books to help us review. Good idea until they issued this Sandra Smith book. 20+ students in the class all agree that it was the worst thing to do. We found so many inaccuracies and mistakes that we finished our assignments using the answers in the book then concentrated on the other more accurate book, which happened to be Saunders. The Army is very slow in changing a just bought us these new books so they insisted we continue to use them. With the little time we had to cram before the NCLEX, it was so frustrating to have this poor excuse of a book shoved in our face. We were lucky to have enough people in our class who could pick out the misinformation, but who knows how much stuff was studied individually that may have been forgotten then reinforced incorrectly with this book. Lucky for us we had 100% pass the NCLEX. Examples: A question about SQ injections would have an IM answer. The book answer would have a different answer than the CD with the same question. The question would ask for the most effective method with the answer being the most common method. And so on. It's a critical time right before the NCLEX, don't risk your future on this poorly written, poorly proof read and just flat out wrong study guide.

Note: I have no experience with any other edition of this or any other Sandra Smith product.

Summary: Really prepared me with little studying!!
Review: This book has an awesome layout and I basically scanned through the different chapters and read what was highlighted.

I also completed many of the practice questions at the end of the chapters and you know what?? These really were just like the questions asked on the boards. When I went to take my boards many of the questions played off of the sample questions in the book, basically same question, different wording. I was actually surprised to see this.

I really suggest this book of you are getting ready for your boards!
