Rating: Summary: NOT WHAT I EXPECTED Review: As a psychologist who works with families of ADHD children, I find that dietary modifications are very important. Far too often kids have meals at school that cause them to crash, get out of control, and then the parents are left with the blame. Also parents often do not know what to change in their child's diet to help them focus and to avoid the mood swings that are common with kids who have been diagnosed with ADHD. This book is a small but very useful guideline for parents and I encourge any family which has a child with ADHD to think about using it. The changes are not overly draconian and can be made simply by substituting items when you go shopping. It can make a BIG difference.
Rating: Summary: Not too helpful Review: I have been eating the way the book suggests for almost two months. I have lost 15 lbs. with VERY little effort. Some of the comments from other reviewers refer to the books lack of data or specific brands. However, this is what makes the diet so powerful. You don't need to count calories or hunt for specific products. Just eat three meals a day from the large number of items in the book and the weight drops off.The biggest problem I have had is that the two suits I bought right before I started don't fit. Lukily I had some suits from earlier thinner times to wear. I don't really envision ever stopping eating this way. You can go out to dinner, eat full and hearty meals and maintain yourself. I definitely let myself indulge on occasion with "BAD" things that are worth "cheating" with. I have already given this book out to more than 10 people and the cumulative weight loss is very impressive. If you want all the scientific reasoning behind the diet, buy the full books. However, if you are more interested in the how than the why - all you need is this guide. Best of luck - one day soon you hear someone say they can't have nuts because of the fat while they eat white bread. You can chuckle to yourself - It isn't the fat that makes you fat it is the insulin!
Rating: Summary: Very good Review: Let's face it, only the information in this book is important, not the writing. If you are trying the diet, it is a must have. For the first two months my wife and I would play a guessing game on some of the foods, and we were frequently wrong, especially on those quick lunches out. We quickly learned the can haves and can not haves. Short, not sweet, but indispensible.
Rating: Summary: Not too helpful Review: Most of the shopping recommendations are for food that have low sugar noted in the ingredients, which seems like a good general guideline but not too helpful in a "shopper's guide". Also noted are - you guessed it - "Sugar Busters" brand foods where applicable. Except to bring in extra royalties for the authors, there is no reason for this to be a separate book. It really should be a supplement to the Sugar Buster's book itself.
Rating: Summary: Handy guide for shopping Review: Since it's pocket size it's convenient- nothing more, nothing less- it's not promising extra miracles or secrets. The reader from Leverett, MA is a bit naive to comment on the authors pushing Sugar Busters products - this is America, folks, people are going to try and make an extra buck - it doesn't mean you have to buy the specific products suggested. You should read the book to understand why you should pick certain foods. That should always serve as your general guideline when a food is in question - this guide just serves as a quick handy reference.
Rating: Summary: Quick guide for shopping without having to use the main book Review: The Sugar Busters book is a comprehensive book but the shoppers guide keeps you from having to sift thru all of the pages of the big book. It is a very handy book to have when shopping for the correct foods.

Out of all the Sugar buster products I have bought, this is one I would not waste my time or money buying. Others like it and thats fine, each is entitled to his or her opinion. To me it was not worth my money.
Rating: Summary: Handy for beginners Review: This small guide is very handy for those of you just getting started on this diet. It lists the "legel" and "illegal" foods and has space for your own notes. I found that I only needed it for a little while though. When you've been on this diet for a while as I have, you get a feel for what and what not to buy.
