Summary: Nice photos, but book has fundamental flaws
Review: Avoid this book, in which the author fundamentally mis-characterizes events on Long Island's East End. While marketed as "non-fiction," it becomes apparent from the opening page that this is not a serious social history or economics text. Instead, diligent research and expert analysis are dispensed for an effort to develop an entertaining story with little connection to reality. Oliver Stone might be proud, but those seeking to develop a genuine understanding of the North Fork will be badly mis-informed. Despite the author's errant prediction that farming families face imminent financial demise, these people continue to prosper by marketing their high-end products to the area's well-heeled vacationers. One has to wonder why the author is taking pot-shots at these hardworking and successful people.
