The organization and contents of the book are great. Summaries of the most important microorganisms at the end of each section of the book make it excellent for quick reviewing what one has just read. Also, the book includes unique chapters like normal flora, laboratory diagnosis, and vaccines which are really helpful. The immunology section extensively provide a solit understanding of the immune mechanisms, using illustrative figures and mnemonics. Moreover, the MCQs at the end of the book, along with the clinical cases, emphasize on the important areas in medical microbiology. One more thing I have to complement is the use of bold font in the book; this made skimming chapters quickly before a final microbiology exam a 'stressless' event, and gave confidence. To be neutral in my review, the book lacks a good mycology section (You need another book for mycology).

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: good book but not consistent with Medical Micro, Jawetz 20th Review: The Examination and Board Review by Levinson, et al is a good text for microbiology but has many inconsistencies both within its own pages and in relation to Jawetz, Melnick and Adelberg's Medical Microbiology, 20th ed.,Brooks, Butel, and Ornston which is also a Lange Medical Book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Must buy for USLME Review: This book is good for the USLME microbiology portion. It gives essential detail of high-yield items. However, I also used: Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers (ISBN: 0971999635) The second book I got on Amazon.com also. I recommend the first book as a great summary to getting to the essential details of microbiology. I advise getting the second book to help prepare for the type of questions to know for the USLME.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great for class and board review Review: This book is nice for two reasons-- *First, it is a great text to use while taking a Micro/Immunology class in medical school. It always provides a basic framework for understanding each concept or organism, it is organized nicely with a lot of bolding and great tables, and it is up-to-date. *Second, it is good for board review. The tables are easy to study from and there is a 40-page section titled "brief summaries of medically relevant organisms" at the end of the book. In addition, there are 100's of review questions and a section with 10 clinical cases to test your knowledge. These features are nice because the book can be a little dense at times. *My advise--buy the book to use during class and then you will already be familiar with it for board review.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: All you need for USMLE STEP 1 Microbio and Immuno Review: Very concise presentation, easy to read and understandable. The questions in the back are KEY- do these and you will rock this section of the boards. The best bang for your buck. Look no further.
