Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Well Written Textbook
Review: I teach Respiratory Therapy, and specifically Pulmonary Functions. I have found Ruppel's text to be very comprehensive and easy for students to read. He has written a book for the technologist, not the physician. The informations is well researched and correct according to the established standards set up by the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians. I have read other popular Respiratory Therapy Text that have apparently never heard of these standards. I am in anticipation of the release of his 8th edition.

Summary: No.1
Review: This new 8th ed is even better than 7th ed (superb use of very nice fonts, very nice glossy paper and much stronger covers that do not bend as it was the case in 7th ed). It is full of information with alot of info based on very important guidelines developed by American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) and American Thoracic Sociaty (ATS). If you need the most authorative textbook on pulmonary function tests then this is it without a doubt. I usually prefer hardcover books, but since this book has pretty decent thick softcovers it should be OK for those that also prefer hardcovers. I recommend this excellent book for all that need to learn/review/teach PFTs and have a good reference on this subject such as pulmonologists, respiratory therapists/physiologists, and other MDs.
