Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent overview
Review: As with the rest of the Secrets series, this book covers the subject matter broadly (although not at great depth) in a useful Q&A format. The material is practical and relevant, covering both inpatient and outpatient scenarios.

The book would be of interest to people (especially medical students and residents working in infectious diseases rotations) wishing to gain an introduction to the subject, or family physicians (such as myself) wishing to conduct some revision away from the fairly dry standard textbooks. The book (quite reasonably) assumes a working knowledge of microbiology.

If I were to make a criticism of the book, it is that it has a very strong USA focus, in terms of the diseases covered and the statistics on incidence/prevalence (unless you live in the US, in which case it is an advantage!).

If you are looking for a good introduction to infectious diseases written in an interesting Q&A format, then you can't go past this book.
