Summary: Addresses the Business Wonderfully
Review: Although no book can ever address every aspect of a broad topic such as that of the ever-changing telecommunications field, Mr. Jones has made a wonderful effort in covering the fundamentals of telecommunications in a clear and concise manner. This book will serve as a good reference for anyone interested in managing a telecommunications business. It addresses how to manage complex telecom projects for a large enterprise. For undergraduate students, it provides an overview of telecom technology and prepares them for taking more in-depth telecommunications courses. For professionals, it provides a clear approach to most telecom terminology and provides some proven stategies to reduce costs and compete. I must admit, this book provides more than most. It provides more insight as to the interworkings of the telecom business far beyond anything else I've encountered. I would recommend reading this book. It gets complex at times, but the the information is invaluable.

Summary: Comprehensive Reference for Telco Business Management
Review: I finally managed to get a copy of this book. It was exciting to see a complete reference on the subject of telecom management emerge. As a telecom manager for the past 16 years, when I read the book I appreciated the author's knowledge regarding software projects and leadership. The business process reengineering and knowledge management topics were also very educational and made the book well worth reading. The chapters on customer care( and CRM) and billing were also very indepth compared to other books I've read. The author does provide a detailed historical account of the industries evolution which is much different than the limited set of information I've been able to obtain from other books. It was extremely interesting to learn of the early inventors and their philosophies. If your a history buff, this book has some good information regarding telecommunications history. Not to limit the books coverage of technology. The book gives a technological description of each of the variest aspects of the telecom network. It introduces the latest technologies such as VOIP, DSL, and fiber and how the technology is regulated. If your looking for a comprehensive reference on telecommunications and even need to develop marketing strategies to compete, this is the book you want. Well worth the time to read. I cannot help but give this book 5 stars.

Summary: Excellent but terrible grammar
Review: Is it just me or has nobody else noticed the amount of grammar mistakes this book has. Don't get me wrong. The content of this book is excellent and is really helping my education of the telecommunications industry and history. However the book is so poor when it comes to grammar that it is sometimes hard to get through as you are having to constantly having to read sentences again to try and understand what the author is trying to say. I don't think anybody proof read this before sending it to publication. Other than that it is great and if you can stand what I mention above, worth purchasing for sure.

Summary: You'll want to read this one
Review: This is a book I must recommend for anyone interested in the field of telecommunications.

I really enjoyed the detailed discussions regarding what not to do in telecom project management. This book was a good read and I feel it will definitely help me in my career. I've looked at the other books on the market and this one definitely is one that covers all of the bases, from history, to the business processes (billing, customer care, disaster recovery, management, fiber optics, wireless technologies, etc...) to the details of telecommunication priciples. I've learned a great deal from this book and I think everyone will be enlightened by its content. Though I don't generally take the time to review books, this one actually benefited me a great deal so I felt it was my obligation to tell others how great it is. Take the time to read this one and you'll have a full understanding of telecommunications and understand what strategies companies must take to be competitive.
