Rating: Summary: Indispensible Reference Guide For Hematology Work Review: This is one of the most handy reference guides I have come across on diagnostic hematology. There are many color slides, all very well taken and clearly annotated. The immense effort and care the authors took in taking and choosing the color slides is immediately obvious, as all slides are presented without any ambiguities or any chance of confusion or misinterpretation. The text itself is concise and to the point, lucidly written using very descriptive language, making for a very easy read. The layout of the book is also very appealing, and chapters are kept short, with each chapter subdivided into manageable sections. And all these without any compromise on vital information. Apart from giving details on making correct diagnoses, commmon pitfalls to avoid are also highlighted. Manual and instrumental techniques given (eg. flow cytometry) are also highly informative. The book comes with a Knowledge-based Systems CD-ROM covering peripheral blood analysis, flow cytometry immunophenotyping and bone marrow interpretation. There is also a list of suggested readings for more in-depth study. It is indeed a very well-written book covering both theoretical and practical aspects of diagnostic hematology. A must-have for every library or laboratory.
