Rating: Summary: A Rare Textbook! Review: Molles "Ecology: Concepts and Applications" is a rare textbook for three reasons: 1. It is unusually well-writen for a science textbook-clearly writen and even poetic at times. 2. The author is open to more-than-scientific approaches to studying the Natural World-such as aesethics, art, literature and ethics. Molles is a good man for including these dimensions in his textbook. Too many natural scientists study science in a vacum, divorced from its socio cultural, political-economic and spiritual context. 3. Finally, this book is a good Ecology textbook to use at a Christian college or university because it does not try to hock a scientific naturalist agenda and it will be a great introduction to the breath and scope of God's Creation here on Earth.

Rating: Summary: Great for non ecology major students Review: Molles has outdone himself with this book. It presents the reader a great book for students who are not majoring in ecology and a great way to understand ecology and the different field works done in the area. The tables and organization are great. I speacially like the way the author makes a subject easy to understand and the way the tables and pictures help you to understand. It's a great book.

Rating: Summary: Great for non-technical study Review: This book is the first science text I have ever encountered which I enjoy reading. It generally takes the form of a series of stories which the author deftly uses to illustrate ecological concepts. It's not technical enough for a serious ecology student, but I hope that many people read it to gain an appreciation for ecology without encountering some the fanaticism which had previously turned me away from the subject entirely. Thanks.
