Summary: An Excellent Introduction to Real Analysis
Review: "Introduction to Real Analysis" by R. G. Bartle and D. R. Sherbert gives an excellent introduction to the topic of real analysis. The chapters are presented in a logical order, such that one topic flows seamlessly into the next. The authors explain the concepts of real analysis very clearly and succinctly. This book would be an excellent reference for those currently enroled in a real analysis course, or for those that simply need to brush up on the concepts and ideas of the subject.

Summary: An excellent real analysis text !!!
Review: A good introduction to real analysis. Proofs are detailed. This book is definitely for anyone who loves real analysis.

Summary: For an average person, this book is terrible.
Review: Before I began my class in real analysis, I was pretty confident with whatever knowledge I had. When I started reading this book, I realized that there were so many places where the author just left the readers to figure out. There are a few examples, but I cannot apply that to solve the problems in the book. Some problems have answers, but they only provide hints so I don't know if I am doing them right or not.

I think the book should have more examples so the students know what is going on, and it should come with the (instructor's solutions manual) so that the students have something to hold onto when their professors are not available. Spending 3 hours on a problem and getting no answer is nothing but a pain, and generally students do not have that much time.

Some may say, "you are training your brain by doing that," but I disagree. Thinking hard and getting no improvement just make us tired. If you are a college professor, if you don't want to be the reason why a student stops being a math major, then don't use this textbook if you are not going to be available for them when they need you.

Summary: Not that good
Review: i am actually taking a real analysis course, and this is my first encounter with real analysis. I actually find it very hard to understand the contents and i do not recommend this book for real beginners that want to study real analysis.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not for the first course in Real Analysis
Review: I cannot recommend this book to beginners. Its hard to understand, and there are very few examples. The only good thing is maybe, that beginners get an intuitive feel of integration, and the underlying ideas, thats all.
Certainly not what an undergraduate needs. Apostol's book is much better.

Summary: THE FIRST REAL ANALYSIS BOOK
Review: I'M A ELECTRONIC ENG. TRING TO LEARN REAL ANALYSIS (BY MYSELF) AND THIS IS THE BEST BOOK TO DO IT .IS SO CLEAR THAT YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO KNOW ENGLISH VERY WELL TO UNDERSTAND IT. AND HAS A LOT OF SOLVED PROBLEMS.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It's Not That Good
Review: Introduction to Real Analysis by Bartle, et al. is among the finest introductions to Real Analysis on the market. It was the book that first introduced me to "higher mathematics" and it's style is clear, concise and at a level appropriate for anyone who has just finished their first course in calculus. Highly recommended for either self study or as a first textbook in real analysis, 5 out of 5 stars.

Summary: Not bad...
Review: This book is not too bad. It presents the basic material while giving lots of examples. However, the book presents a lot of "cute" examples and theorems that often deviate from the main point that is trying to be conveyed, which is something that is not at all desired in a first adv. calc or analysis course. Few difficult problems are in the book, which could allow the student to truely miss a topic they should deeply know. With all said and done, it is difficult to recommend this book over say rosenlicht: introduction to analysis, which covers the same topics (except puts everything in a metric space setting, which is more appropriate in my opinion) more smoothly, has better problems, and costs about [$$] less, which is always nice. The section generalized integrals is nice, but is not worth an extra [$$]

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good guidance to the world of analysis
Review: This book is very helpful to those student who want a advanced calculas process and need a basement to the study of real analysis. This book has many example which are very helpful to the student and we can have a chance to think about the process to the solution. Best textbook of what i have read this year!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Masterpiece
Review: This is a coherent piece of work. Presentation is crisp. Techniques of proof are rigourous. You need a touch of mathematical mutarity and an informal background in calculus to appreciate the treasures hidden in the pages of this book.
