Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must have for clinician educators and physicians alike
Review: Concise,pocket-sized book that critically appraises the evidence on the physical exam. Well written with numerous tables of test characteristics of physical exam findings (ie sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratios). This is not an introductory text on physical examination. There are very few illustrations on how to actually examine a patient.

Summary: WHAT AN INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATE SHOULD KNOW.
Review: Hi,
I am a graduate from India and having gone through mounds of worthless material in India,I think it would be worthwhile for IMG's and Indian trained doctors in particular to be aware of one thing that the North American medical delivery system expects.EVIDENCE.

Your decisons are made on solid evidence and that evidence is documented carefully, conclusions drawn, decisions made and
mangement costs justified and again carefully, your billing
should take into account everything.
Indian syatem teaches you to assimilate information but does not teach must in the way of application.Learn how to do it and
you are through all the North American examinations.

This book shold certainly help you to ORIENT yourself in the mannner described and required.

Summary: Outstanding Book on Physical Diagnosis
Review: I am sure I wouldn't be wrong if I say there is no other book
to match the standards set by this book on "Physical Diagnosis"
A substantial amount of material has not even been mentioned
in other books. I must concede, I prepare all my teaching
clinics from this book.
This book is indeed a goldmine. I am looking forward to the
next edition.

Summary: More readable than the title suggests
Review: I hesitated to buy this book because of the title - "evidence-based" is often not so much an assurance of reliability as of nonreadability. However, of the twenty or so books on physical diagnosis I have perused this is by far the best - no single book will improve your clinical examination with more speed or pleasure.

Summary: How to make yourself look smart
Review: Many good physical exam books exist, but this is the only one that really tells you what PE finding mean. It includes great tables that lists findings of particular diseases and gives the sensitivity, specificity and likelihood ratios. Other books will tell you that sign X is associated with disease Y, but no others tell you that if you see X that there is a high probability that the patient has Y, and a low probability if the patient doesn't have Z. The tables are even referenced to articles.
