Rating: Summary: Another Masterpiece... Review: After "Microbiology Made ...", this is the best book in this series. Most medical graduates don't like studying anatomy for USMLE, but this book will really help. Excellent pictures, mnemonics and stories will help you to remember important facts without memorizing. If you have any doubt about this book, just read "Brachial Plexus" section.

Rating: Summary: A Most Excellent Book Review: As with other books by Dr. Goldberg, this one is nothing short of miraculous! Through a systems-based approach, an otherwise complicated and tedious subject is transformed into an accesible and enjoyable voyage. Quite honestly, you should leave your standard thick anatomy texts in the corner to use for curls or bench pressing... this book ABSOLUTELY encompasses the key knowledge of anatomy in a fraction of the time. It seems like a gimmick, but it isn't. Having graduated from med school a few years ago, I can still say with authority that this book will serve you well into the future, not to mention on your next test, which will undoubtedly include mostly clinically oriented questions which, in turn, can ALL be answered after a careful and thoughtful review of this book. Don't waste any more time... read this one first!
Rating: Summary: eh Review: Book is poorly organized into systems rather than regions. It's a little too ridiculously simple especially for medical students. There no are review questions to test yourself. I picked up a couple of ideas for remembering structures but otherwise would stick to the Board Review Series Anatomy review. Might be good for undergraduate anatomy though.
Rating: Summary: loved the stile of the book youll remember it better... Review: I am from Brazil and I have used this book for my class in anatomy. No one really knew about this book here in Recife that well if it was not for me, but my friends after seeing it; through me really loved it. It was their first experience of seeing a medical book with humorous connotations in it like that; if you will... It did not really work for the exams that well though because our teachers where warped when it came to anatomy, but it helped me a lot with getting the big pictures of anatomy throughout the course, this book because of its humorous ways made me interested in reading it from back to cover on the side from my classes. The school I went to was UPE which is in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, in South America. And the anatomy professors were really hard on us when it came to neuroanatomy, so I would not recommend this book for neuroanatomy exams at all as well; I would at least get the same authors book on neuroanatomy; I believe his book is called clinical neuroanatomy made ridiculously simple or something like that; its great specially the CD that comes with it also make sure that you get HY neuroanatomy. l liked the 2001 version of the book so much, I read the whole book. It caused me to remember things and learn English at the same time...lol. I loved the joking fashion of the book making me remember hard stuff the easy way, the way my brain likes to digest stuff. As I said b4 I used the 2nd edition of the book. Now I remember the book and it's mnemonics but no longer the classes, this was as a result of the method used in the book I believe? That really worked for me, but it may not work for some of you out there however; so watch out for that. Hope that this review may serve for some of you as a guide for choosing or not choosing this book, as one of your fish out of the water sources for anatomy...lol For those of you that are pondering whether or not to buy this book? Don't worry; still the best thing would be for you to check the book for yourself. Only you will be able to tell... It will be a trip on the more serious students of anatomy, don't take to much notice of others saying that this is a stupid book on anatomy or something like that; you eventually will like the book if you check it for yourself at a local book store; if you have the time. Make sure though that you got a copy of Grays anatomy at all times, for the hard stuff that might come your way in the anatomy labs at night, or when your doing your neuro prep for the exams make sure that you use the HY neuroanatomy book plus the clinical neuroanatomy made ridiculously simple for the exams as you prep material. Yours truly, Thereza M.P.Melo... (An IMG from Brazil).
Rating: Summary: Salvation for the 3-D challanged Review: I discovered this book during the last third of the med school anatomy course and it literally changed my perspective on the subject. Being a very visual learner, I'd fall asleep after reading one paragraph of Moore. And constructing a three dimensional picture from reading the text - forget it. The analogies in this book worked great for me. It was a great way to see the 'big picture' before searching for details in Moore. It is also surprisingly detailed for such a small book. (You will still need a 'big' textbook, though) I wish all of my books there written in similar style, but I realize some people might not like it. For example, if you enjoy reading Moore, this book is probably not for you. On the other hand, if you find anatomy to be unbearably dry, I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Quirky Mnemonics that Stick Review: I used this book when studying for my medical school gross anatomy course. When I first read over the sections I was studying in class, I thought that the mnemonic devices were somewhat silly and did not try to depend much on them. However, when I found myself in my first written and practical exams, I began reciting some of the seemingly ridiculous analogies from the book. It turned out to be an excellent help. Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple is divided into 17 chapters organized by systems. There are two tables of contents, one that follows the systemic outline of the book and another that jumps around pages but is organized into regions of the body. This makes it easy to approach the book from either the systems or regional study. It touched on virtually every aspect that we covered in class. It is easy to understand and will help the reader when he/she has gotten bogged down in anatomical jargon. Although one should not depend on this book a sole text for the study of anatomy, it would make an excellent companion to any anatomy course.
Rating: Summary: Great for Memorising key points of anatomy in short time Review: I'm a med school student, and I hate to say that this book was not helpfull at all in my anatomy class.
It doesn't get into the specifics we were requiered to know. In addition, it is organised by systems, which is too different from most books and atlases, which are organised by areas of the body (for example Moore's textbook or Netter's atlas).
If you want a faster review book then your textbook, get Moore's essentials of clinical anatomy instead.
Rating: Summary: Good as a complement, bad for starting Review: If you already have studied clinical anatomy and still have some trouble remembering all those names, this book may help you. It has some intesting techniques to keep that vocabulary on memory. However, if you are just starting studying anatomy or if the subject is new for you and you just want to read a little about it, better look for another book. I found in the internet very good sites and understood better many basic things such as blood circulation in those sites than reading this book. If it will be your first meeting with anatomy vocabulary, get another book.
Rating: Summary: Great for Med students Review: Shouldn`t be used as the only refrence, but it`s a great book!!!
