Mathematics of Classical and Quantum Physics

Summary: First Rate Book on Math/Physics
Review: This two volume (originally) set provides an excellent introduction to vector spaces, and, to a lesser extent, Hilbert spaces, as well as a good introduction to complex variables. There is also my favorite discussion of the Levi-Civita symbol and its use in dealing with determinants. The books are fairly theoretical although the small number of examples included are well-chosen.

The book does not go into detail on the various special functions of Math/Physics; so, if you are looking for this, you might try Morse & Feshbach or Arfken, the former is the classic and contains everything you should know and about five times what you will know about Math/Physics. The latter is a comprehensive if rather dull text that covers much of the same stuff, but with much less of a feel for the physics.
