Rating: Summary: Efficient studying Review: Everyone in my program uses this book to study for Step 3 (I'm a third year pediatric resident so I was worried that I was out of touch with bread and butter medicine). You have to know every single word in the book since it is very high yield. But it is perfect for a quick, efficient review of important topics. My only goal was to pass but I actually did pretty well on the exam. The book needs more on ethics and social issues. But, I used the old edition (neon green and black cover) and maybe the new edition covers that -- not sure though (which is why, if I could, I'd give it 4.5 stars). I paired it with Kaplan's Qbook and felt very well prepared for the exam.
Rating: Summary: High yield - good for busy residents Review: I am a third year surgical resident taking 3 years too long to take the exam. My schedule doesn't allow for alot of time, so I bought three review books. This one was the most high yield and didn't bring me through alot of the meaningless trivia that the others had. It states what you should concentrate on and what is important. I think this is a great book to have for review.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Review: I recently took the STEP III USMLE. Being an IMG who has graduated an MD for 7 years, I did need a refreshment and an update for the test. This book is very concise and contains most, if not all, the necessary points you need for general practice as well as for the USMLE step 3 exam. Of course, there are a few mistakes here and there and you should be able to see that with common sense. However, if you read and remember all the details in the book, you will certainly pass the test with good score.
I highly recommend the book. Well done!!
Rating: Summary: The best for Step 2, a must ... Review: I took step 2 recently and this book was my primary review book, it was recommended by a friend and I really appreciated the advice. This book was written for step 3 but I can't tell with words how useful it was for me in step 2 along with the platinum notes 2002 from the same author, I highly recommend this book, specially chapters like surgery and peds are really high yield.
Rating: Summary: Highly regarded book for Step 3 Review: I was in Dr. Brocert's graduating class in medical school so perhaps I am slightly biased; but I will say that Dr. Brochert was a superior student, and this book has become highly regarded. In my personal experience, it was a useful aid in my studies for passing my final step of the USMLEs last year in 2003.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic review for Step 3! Review: Really glad I used this book for Step 3 review. Like most residents, I had very little time or energy to devote to studying for the exam. This book can be read over a few days and contains strictly high-yield info presented in an easy to digest manner. This author really understands the way board examiners think and ask questions and presents the material in a way that is designed to help you pass. I would recommend this book to anyone who is preparing for the exam!
Rating: Summary: GRASPED MY ATTENTION!!! Review: Recently, I viewed this book at Cornell's Medical Bookstore and I was impressed by the format and organization used to prepare students throughout the exam.
As a future medical student, I regularly enjoy reviewing medical books, which I will be needing in the near future. Crush Step 3 is a great book to read and follow through even before you begin the first year of medical school. The most thorough account of the big decision we all eventually have to make.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone!
Good Luck!

Rating: Summary: Classic Step 3 Book Review: There is a newer book Strong Medicine for Step 3 that I like better as the content is more spot-on to the exam objectives and the CCS coverage is far superior. You will still want NMS or Qbank to practice questions.
Rating: Summary: Top resource Review: This book really hits the nail on the head with regard to what you need to know for the step 3. Without it I would have only had resources that were too sketchy or too detailed. Swanson's FP book is an excellent guide but used alone really goes into too much detail and would bog you down. Married with this guide, you are good to go. Basically it takes the place of a 2K review course. Bottom line: what you need to know and the pearls that go with those bullets. The most important of your step 3 review books. Excellent.
Rating: Summary: Best prep for the boards Review: This book should have been better named as, 'crush step 2'. Step 3 is an entirely different exam. Whatever is written in this book is 'common sense'. I recently took USMLE STEP 3 field trial after reading this book. not effective. the point is that do not be crazy about this book. Blueprint series is much better than this. It has spelling mistakes in it and at times it gives you the wrong information. Step 3 is more management oriented than diagnosis oriented and this book tells you too little about the management. I found NMS review for USMLE STEP 3 closer to the step 3 format.
