Review: This is an excellant and easy to read book about paleosols. It covers all of the basic science behind paleosol identification, paleoclimate interpretation from paleosols, and the current classification schemes. The pictures are fantastic and highly entertaining. Retallack has succeeded in writing a book that combines textbook quality knowledge with ease of reading and stimulating text. This is a book to sit and read on a weekend afternoon as much as it is a valuable resource for interpreting paleosols. In fact the only thing wrong with this book is its absurd price, otherwise it is a must have.
