Summary: i highly recommend this book
Review: As a student teacher I got this book after reading "the first six weeks of school" which is also part of the responsive classroom series. "rules in school" goes into more detail about creating rules with students, and goes through steps teachers should take in disciplining students, for example the "3 R's of teacher language": reinforcing, reminding, and redirecting. It also has a detailed rationale for when and how to use logical consequences. this book taught me more than my classroom management class and is a great resource.

Review: This book is fantastic! It offers specific, practical, step by step advice for getting your class off to the right start. It has separate chapters for k-2, 3-5, and 6-8 grade classroom. More than just rules, this book describes a complete, simple classroom management system with lots of classroom examples and sample scripts for the teacher. If you are a fan of Harry Wong, you'll LOVE this book.
