Summary: Power Grab: How the National Education Association Is Betray
Review: A well written book which exposes the power of the NEA and its disconnect with those it purports to represent. It exposes what everyone knows to be a failed experiment (American public education) by identifying how the system has become more precious than the children it claims to serve. Even officials of the NEA are on record indicating that education must be "put on the back burner" in order to pursue their political agenda.

Summary: A "Must Read"
Review: Every taxpayer in the country should read this book. An excellent resource, it describes in clear detail why our public schools are not able to help prepare our children to meet the demands of their future. As taxpayers, we have lost control of where and how our school's resources are being spent, and it is time for parents, teachers, and community to take action. We must insist that the needs of children take priority over NEA political agendas. We must regain control of our schools if we expect our nation to have a meaningful future.

Summary: Amazing and real eye opening!
Review: One of the most controversial issues ruling the political agendas to is education and the NEA. Education rapid decline over the years is often blamed on the parents and teachers, Greg Moo has different ideas and you might want to pull up a desk and listen.

From a background of a high school principal, Moo's first hand look into what the NEA has been and is doing to our education system is simply remarkable. Moo's detailed evidence to the NEA's wanting to control the system and its misuse of power is amazing.

Moo's shows you how the NEA use, or misuses, its power to makes the teachers union do its bidding. You'll read about how the NEA blocks any and all legislation that will diminish it power and how it intimidates the teachers.

Moo has given you the first in-depth, comprehensive look at why our education system is failing, why we can't makes the needed changes with the NEA in control and what steps must be taken to fix the problems. We have a first rate bestseller and a real eye opener - well done!

Summary: Right wing voucher nonsense
Review: The thesis of this book is that big bad teachers unions are ruining the educational system of America and that the schools need to be turned over to private companies. The author is attempting to tap into a large audience of parents that harbor deep resentment over desegregation and the secularization of public schools. The book seeks a simple answer to one of America's deepest and most important challenges: education. If you are part of the group of discontent parents who are uncomfortable with immigrant children in your school districts, or perhaps you would like to see the ten commandments posted in your school, then this book should appeal to you. If you wish to have a fuller understanding of the deep race and class divisions that manifest themselves in our educational system and you want to make a meaningful difference in the future of education then you should look into authors like Jonathon Kozol. Power Grab is is targeted at an audience whose points of view are unlikely to change and who want a quick and narrow understanding of education. I question what motivates the author, and I would like to see the author disclose any ties to right wing think tanks or voucher/for profit schools. Could it be that he would like to re direct all that federal money into a school that is not accountable to the public, that can hold Christian prayer and that can screen out troublesome (immigrant, minority, disabled)children? Does he stand to profit personally by being a consultant to educational companies that establish government funded private schools? Naaaah.... that would be cynical to think such a thing.

Summary: Wisdom, courage, and hope for our children
Review: This book reflects the hard-hitting truth about why the public school system is failing our children and will understandably anger those responsible. Taxpayers are continually being asked for more money to fund shool programs, and yet our schools continue to decline, along with student test scores. Want to know where your money is really going? Want to know what you can do? Read this book. Then YOU decide how you want your tax dollars spent. In our community last spring, the wealthy and powerful NEA union shut down our schools until their demands for money were met. Our children were used as pawns for their political gain. Our district is still staggering from the financial loss we have suffered, and our mostly low-income and minority students are left with even less of a chance for success. These children are our future. Unless we want to be simply increasing funds for our prison system as a result of poorly prepared students, read this book and find out what you can do to help.
