Rating: Summary: Definitely worth its money... and more! Review: Believe me when I tell you I was a complete novice where auto audio is concerned. While I have setup several home systems, I have always got all of my cars' systems professionally installed, with the shop providing recommendations on what to buy, etc. I had no real understanding of amps, pre-amps, cross-vers, impedance, etc. I didn't even know what speaker specifications to look for. Also, if anything at all went wrong with my system, I wouldn't have known where to start to diagnose the problem. However, after reading this book, I can now say confidently (as I have proven by re-configuring my current setup) that I understand, not only the terms, but how everything fits together. I can now confidently (as I'm currently doing) shop around for my own components, without having to blindly accept what the dealer says. I even now have the confidence to install the system myself, although for that professional finsh, I may not. At least I can specify exactly what I want and can understand and challenge the installer, if appropriate. I very, very highly recommend this book. You will NOT be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Good Book for a beginner- intermediate Review: Good book but still there are some questions that may remain unanswered. The book does not explain that good the various ways of conecting speakers to amps meaning the total watts that may come out of a channel, that sort of thing.More diagrams of actual conections would make an even nicer book. On the other side for a beginner is a very good book, for someone who just really started on this hobby. And still it gives a good tecnical explanation of crossovers, but as the title of the book mentioned is a book for beginners.
Rating: Summary: dis book rocks Review: I like how he talks about his family and friend
Rating: Summary: No stars for auto audio Review: I would rate this book at 0 stars if I could, but 1 star is the minimum. Just think about the fact that this book has an infinite number of pages which narrate the history of car audio, the first amplifiers and how they worked, the first transistors, bla bla bla. - All of this without explaining some usefull information such as wire connections, amp channel manipulation, etc. I bought this book but I was very disappointed. I read a lot of books about auto audio, and I must say that this book is not usefull at all, especially to beginners. Dont repeat my mistake by buying this book.
Rating: Summary: I found this book very introductory. Review: I'm new to car audio and this book doesn't teach me anything more than what I've learned from articles on howstuffworks.com, sounddomain.com etc. Besides, his overly use of not-so-funny jokes really drives me nuts (even the author admits his jokes are corny). I also picked up "The Car Stereo Cookbook", a book along the same line but a little bit more up-to-date and informative.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: This book explains everything that i wanted and expected to learn from this book. I think it is the best audio book out right now.
Rating: Summary: Good book for building speaker boxes. Review: This book has an excellent section on designing speaker boxes, wich is going to save you money. I also liked the section explaining impedance, and connecting speakers in patterns. I did not like the chapter on shortwave radio. I thought the section on crossovers was too technical.
Rating: Summary: I found this book very introductory. Review: This book is so easy to read and understand. Unless you have experience, this is probably the only book available that will explain audio and car audio concepts in a language you can understand. I've read other books, and so many were frustrating because they say "Assumes some knowledge of car audio" in the intorduction. This really means "I'm not going to bother defining half of my terms so that you will be left very confused and frustrated trying to make sense of what I'm talking about." Not so with Auto Audio. I understood everything he said, and it was very useful.
