Summary: Good for Beginners
Review: A good book for someone just learning for fun. It doesn't actually have raised dots in it. It is a fun and simple book. Very clear and descriptive. Great for children! Colorful!

Summary: Note the book's subtitle: "Beginning Braille"
Review: As the other reviews note, this is a fun little book that teaches you the alphabet and numbers in (grade-1) Braille, with puzzles showing words in isolation.

But if you buy this, you should bear in mind that that doesn't go very far at all in teaching you to read the grade-2 Braille you'd find in the real world, which is full of contractions and punctuation using dot patterns that this book doesn't even mention.

If you are sighted and want to learn to read Braille, see the book "Handbook for Learning to Read Braille by Sight" or possibly even the book "Instruction Manual for Braille Transcribing", and also look around and .

Summary: Great book
Review: It is possible that I will be blind in a few years so I wanted to learn to read Braille. This book has great beginings however the "dots" are not raised and I don't want to learn to read braille by sight. Its an okay but it would be better if the whole book were in actual braille though.

Summary: Its an okay book but I'm sure there are better out there.

Summary: Great, but not enough!
Review: It was a great book, but it was too short. It didn't get a chance to introduce things which are important, such as periods, exclamation marks, quotation marks, etc. But the lessons were good to get me ready for that sort of thing, and now I can read braille O.K., thanks to some helpful websites. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to start learning braille.

Summary: Terrific Braille!
Review: This is a fun book for anyone interested in exploring the world of Grade 1 Braille. The variety of activities to practice using the Braille is terrific. As a teacher of the visually impaired, I recommend the book to interested people that are looking for an overview of what Braille is and how it works.
