Summary: A disappointment
Review: I am a nurse and was delighted to have the opportunity to read this book since forensic nursing is an important, new professional specialty - however, I was disappointed. Ms. Stevens describes interesting situations where forensic nurses make a connection between clinical practice and law enforcement - but there are errors in the text the author and the editor (and I'm honestly not sure there was one on this project) should have corrected. For example, on page 2 the author refers to the 'American Association of Nurses.' The organization is actually the 'American Nurses Association.' The author also fumbles the name of Disaster Medical Assistance Teams - Federal response assets that are abbreviated DMAT. The author calls them disaster medical emergency teams and abbreviates them 'DMET.' These are both easily checked facts and make me question the accuracy of the rest of the content. The author uses 'ER' for 'emergency room' throughout the book. The generally accepted term now is 'emergency department' or ED. 'ER' may be used on a television show, but in health care publications it is not currently accepted language. The important work of nurses should be showcased but the awkward language and poor editing in this book don't serve the profession or the public well.

Summary: Norm Alsaline
Review: I found this book to be very poorly written. The book reads as if the author has overheard conversations (or lectures) and started writing about them in the third person, then switches to first person, making it sound like she has had all these experiences. If you are interested in forensic nursing please look for a more accurate source of information. Join the International Association of Forenic Nurses and get involved! Attend a conference and get the information from the lecturers. Talk to the PRACTICING Forensic Nurses and get the true stories as they really happened. This book is a farce.

Summary: Fabulous
Review: I loved the book and all the details. Since my mother is part of the DMORT (Disaster Mortary Operations Response Team) and has worked with DMET (Diaster Medical Emergency Teams) I was pleased to read about that. I currently work in an ER in Los Angeles.

Summary: Forensic Nurse
Review: I read this book. What a disappointment. It sounds as if Ms. Stevens has compiled scraps of information and tried to record it in book form. The editing is poor and she has made no effort to verify titles and credentials of some of her subjects even though many are accessible and available by a phone call.
If you are looking for accurate information on forensic nursing this is not the book for you

Summary: Great
Review: I really enjoyed reading the book and kept reading and reading. I think that I want to be a nurse for my second career. I am certainly going to inquire into forensic nursing. I think it is fabulous that there are so many different aspects to it and I want to tell our hospital people to use them!
